Since we weren’t able to dine at Dinesty the last time we came around this area, Marv and I decided to give Dinesty another try. We arrived shortly after 6pm and luckily there was a table available for a table of 2! Score!! 🙂 The restaurant was already about 90% full by the time we arrived.

We appreciate the open kitchen concept in a chinese restaurant just because it’s so rare. We can see how clean it really is(no surprises!) lol It also gives you a sense of how hectic it can be in the kitchen. I was watching the 2 people making the dim sum portion of the menu, and I swear they never once stopped wrapping the dumplings while we were there! I actually don’t know how anyone can work in an environment where you are watched all the time… I know I wouldn’t be able to do it! heh heh!
We ordered a few dishes since we were both feeling pretty hungry. First we started off with the Marinated Beef with Soy Sauce Wrapped in Pancake.
This dish was a total win! 🙂 The outer wrap was flaky, delicate and not too dry. The sauce was good, but a bit sweeter than anticipated. There was also enough sauce that it dripped out a bit onto the plate as you ate it, but did not make the roll soggy.
Next up, we ordered the Pan Fried Pork Dumplings.
If you enjoy eating the wrap, then this is the dish to order. It was much thicker than it looks. We both agreed not to order this dish again. The wrap had no taste and the filling was very tiny. Let’s just move on…
We decided to go with the String Beans with Ground Pork for our veggie dish.
This was a great pick! I thoroughly enjoyed this dish, although I would’ve liked it more if it were spicy. Nonetheless, this dish was very tasty, and I take full credit on choosing this dish 🙂 Marv said he would’ve liked it better had they used thicker beans. Pssh, it was still good! 😛
We opted to order some rice to go with our meal, and decided to go with a whole pot of rice! (Had we known a whole pot of rice was $7.75, we would’ve only ordered half the pot since we had a lot leftover…but that’s okay… it’s Marvs lunch for tomorrow! haha)
They serve the rice in a pot shown above. How neat is that?! I usually get it served in a bucket/pail looking thing, but this was pretty cool! I’m still kinda surprised at how much rice we ate… or Marv ate.. lol! 🙂
Our next choice was the Stir Fried Shredded Pork with Chili Sauce.
This dish was spot on! It was not overly spicy, yet it still had a kick to it. This complimented the green bean dish well and along with the rice. I swear Marv was already picking at it BEFORE I took any pictures.. hahah If you look closely towards the bottom left, it looks like he did eat some right?!? But he claims he did not…(then what was with all that chopstick action while I was pulling out the camera?? hmm??) I kinda wished there was a dish with spinach included as well, it reminded me of a dish my family used to order when I was a lot younger. Oh the memories…
And last but not least as a late addition, we ordered the Shredded Pork with Hoi Sin Sauce and Pancakes.
Looks similar to the stir fried chili pork right?? Normally, this is my staple dish. I love eating food with wrappers like these 😀 But this time around, the dish was a lot sweeter than normal. I don’t like how there aren’t enough wraps to finish the pork, but thankfully the sauce coated on rice tastes just as good! This would definitely be classified as a ‘share’ dish… Marv found it to be very heavy for a single person.
Did you notice how every entree dish had pork in it?? I swear it wasn’t done on purpose!
Overall, we enjoyed this meal. The portions are generous, the restaurant itself is pretty clean. The servers for the most part are pretty attentive, finished plates are removed promptly. We ended up with a ton of leftovers as there was only 2 of us indulging in this meal. As we were leaving, the restaurant was still pretty full, I recommend arriving early as the restaurant stays pretty full up during dinner.

Must try the green beans and the shredded pork with chili sauce!
Do they have peking duck?
Yes! Remember..the pot of rice is huge! We really should’ve went with the half order lol
I don’t remember seeing peking duck on the menu, but Marv vaguely remembers seeing something on the menu about Smoked duck?
Hehehe…I always order super extra spicy whenever I order the Shredded Pork with Chilli Sauce…hehehehehehe! My ATF!!!
hehee wow extra spicy?! It was already almost too spicy for me to handle lol! But then again, I can’t eat spicy foods well.. hehe
Next time you’re at Dinesty try my ATF chopped tofu and vegetables. It is really good. Here’s a pic from Buddhagirls blog.
