What’s more fitting for a post on Christmas day…than a post about the Christmas Market!! (okay.. this wasn’t planned, I swear!!) Btw, Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you all got what you wished for! 🙂 I’d also like to thank everyone who’s been coming to our site and taking the time to read what we have to say. Thank you thank you!! We appreciate every one of you! 🙂
During our holiday break, Marv and I decided to check out the German Christmas Market that was held outside of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. It was $2.00 per person for admission if you arrive during the day, however we found out from the elderly lady in front of us that if you had taken transit and had a transfer pass, it was only $1.00 for admission! Was that even advertised anywhere?? We didn’t see any signs..
To be honest, there wasn’t much to see at the Christmas Market. You were there either for the food.. or who am I kidding… just the food 🙂
Alright, so without further adieu, onto the food!
We passed by the Applehaus first, this stall looked okay, but didn’t jump out at us to give it a try, so we decided to bypass it.
Next we wound up at the crafts section where Marv decided to give his decorating skills a try! (okay.. maybe I had some say into him deciding to decorate….:D )
For $6.00(kinda hefty), you get to decorate ONE gingerbread cookie. You’re given a bag of sprinkles, bag of frosting and a bag of smarties. Oh wells, and there he goes to decorate! =D
Ahh, he won’t allow me to put a picture of him decorating the cookie, so let’s just get to the final product!
Ta da!! What do you think??
The cookie was not delectable… I took 1 bite and went for the candies. lol
Outside the gingerbread decorating area, we noticed an extremely long line for 1 of the stalls, so we decided to stand in line not knowing what it was for lol. Eventually we realized it was for the German Sausage stall.
Marv decided to go with the bratwurst. It was delicious! The saurkraut on the bratwurst made it worth the $8.00. The bun on the otherhand was way too thick and plain.
Since he got the sausage, I decided to get a baked potato from the Potato Hut!
Surprise, surprise! I decided to go with the basic baked potato which had sour cream, bacon, green onions and fried yellow onions.
The potato was good, like how a baked potato should be. It was a lot of potato though, I wasn’t even able to finish it! Marv had to help out and eat the rest(heh heh, I can always count on him to finish stuff off for me! =D)
We noticed there was also another huge lineup to enter the Christmas Market which was in 1 tent-like structure. The lineup looped around almost the entire market so we decided to skip it and continue with our Christmas shopping in downtown.
However… since Marv and I was still feeling a bit hungry, we decided to make a stop at Japadog on Robson since he had never had one before. We arrived at about 1pm and there was a line outside the door! Me and lines?!… I know.. but I was really craving one!
I went with the Terimayo on the bottom of the pic. I don’t know what it is about this hot dog, but it’s so yummy! Maybe it’s the mayo.. or the seaweed or all of it combined, but I thought it was worth the wait.
Marv ordered the Tonkatsu dog. His first experience at Japadog and he thoroughly enjoyed his dish. Next time we’ll have to try the other flavours that they have! 🙂

I think CTV did a feature on the Christmas Market, they said the apples were good! Basically it is an apple filled with crumble and baked, then I think they put some kind of sauce on top. Like an inside-out apple crumble.
Scott’s best friend’s family makes awesome bratwurst… and I’ve got some of it in my freezer =D
Really?? Aww… looks like I missed out! =( I’ll have to try it the next time I come across it 🙂
