Whenever I go to Aberdeen Centre, I always seem to walk by Northern Delicacy. I’ve been wanting to try out this restaurant for awhile now, but finally I’ve found a volunteer to come with me 🙂 I met up with my cousin Rose for dinner and we decided to order an abundance of food! (mmm… just the way I like it!)
Northern Delicacy
4151 Hazelbridge Way Richmond BC

First, we started off with the Mushrooms Wrapped in Bean Curd Sheets.
People who know me, know that I normally do not eat dishes like this, but it was actually very tasty! The bean curd was firm and had a good texture to it. The mushrooms were chewy and not mushy. I enjoyed this dish.
Next to come was the Shanghainese Spring Roll.
Honestly, spring rolls could be my ‘eat anywhere, anytime’ food. The wrapper was crispy and not oily at all. There was no skimping on the ingredients. It was pretty good. 🙂
Our Spicy and Sour Soup arrived next!
This was definitely best drank while it’s still hot! The soup was quite spicy, but that was to be expected. It had lots of ‘filling’ in the soup. This was a dish I would not hesitate to order again!
The order of Dan Dan Noodles in Black Sesame Soup came to the table.
I’m usually not a fan of this dish, but the noodles were soft and chewy. It had a strong peanut flavoured sauce/soup. I think the problem with this one was that we had so much food to choose from on the table that by the time we got around to tasting this dish, the noodles had already absorbed most of the soup.
The Szechuan Style Seafood Fried Rice in Wok was the next dish to arrive.
Are you surprised that I loved this dish! (Fried rice is another favourite of mine) It was very tasty and not oily. There was a good spread of shrimp and scallops in this dish. This would also be another dish I would order again when I come back to revisit. 🙂
We decided to get 2 orders of the Steamed Pork Dumplings(xiao long bao).
Rose was commenting how usually the wrapper is very thin, however this time, the wrapper was too thick and there was not enough soup. I agree, the wrapper was pretty thick, but the soup portion was a decent amount.
Last but not least, we ordered the Deep Fried Shredded Daikon Pancakes.
This was a great recommendation by Marv. I also loved this dish! It was flakey and very tasty. There was a lot of shredded daikon and pieces of chinese sausage. It was quite flavourful. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish so much that I had 2 pieces!! (Sorry Rose…it was too good haha)
Overall, the food was pretty consistantly tasty. I noticed every dish we ordered was not the least bit oily. The only complaint we had was that the food came out too quickly from the kitchen. It’s like we received everything in less than a 10 minute span so by the time we got to sampling each dish, the food would be a bit cold. Service wise, they are quite attentive and prompt. The restaurant was packed the entire time we were there. It’s a good thing we got a table early! Would I ever come back??? ABSOLUTELY! I already have a few ‘MUST ORDER’ dishes to retry 🙂
