Cafe Medina

Ahh, another chance to meet up with Rose and eat!  She wanted to have breakfast at Cafe Medina, and since I’ve heard great things about the place, I figured it’d be a great time to try it out 🙂

Cafe Medina
556 Beatty St., Vancouver BC
Tel:  (604) 879-3114

Alright… you got me.. I’m missing the storefront photo.  I wasn’t able to take a picture of the outside since there was a crowd of people blocking me at every angle, so you’ll have to settle with seeing pics of the inside! 🙂   Decor wise, it gives off a very rustic/cozy feeling(probably because the tables are VERY close together)  At some points of the meal, I felt like I was ignoring the guests at the tables beside me! heh heh

Rose went with the Saumon Fume.

She said she had this the last time she visited the restaurant and it was so delicious that she wanted to order it again!  This was an open faced ciabatta sandwich which consisted of a fried egg, smoked salmon, cream cheese, avocado, arugula and artichoke salad.  The vinegarette was very tasty.  It was well balanced and had good texture to each part of the dish.  I think the seller for her on this dish was the avocado lol!

I decided to order the Fricasse.

This was 2 eggs done sunny side up with short ribs, potatoes, onions, arugula, cheddard andd a grilled foccacia on the side.  It might not look like much, but this dish was very filling.

Since I”m a sucker for waffles, we just had to order 1 each at the end of our meal! 🙂

So, We chose to get 1 milk chocolate and 1 dark chocolate for our topping.

Personally I enjoyed the dark chocolate  one best(but then again it’s probably because I find milk chocolate to be too sweet sometimes.)

Overall, we enjoyed this dining experience at Cafe Medina.  Service wise, they are very friendly and attentive.  What I did not get a good shot of was the coffees that we had ordered.   Rose went with the espresso and I had a regular coffee.   That was a GREAT tasting coffee!   I’d definitely come to this part of town just to get the coffee!   It was so good that we both decided to order another cup to-go while we walked around downtown… darn, writing up this post is making me crave their coffee again… who wants to come with me next time! 🙂
