Congee Noodle King

Haha, another Late-R night snack.. actually we came to Congee Noodle King right after we left Milestones!  We decided to meet up with Marvs friends since they had not eaten dinner yet.

Congee Noodle King
3313 Kingsway, Vancouver BC
Tel# (604) 435-6670

Alright, another snack after our big dinner at Milestones! :Þ   As per usual, I opted to order their hk style coffee while the others had tea.

Duarte went with the Preserved Egg Congee and we added the Sweet Chinese doughnut.

The congee was very tasty and rich.  I found the doughnut to be a bit hard(probably cause it was already so late in the night), but still good nonetheless.

Next to come was the Deep Fried Intestine.

According to Marv, this dish was very crispy and chewy, just the way it should be.  I have no comment since I refused to give this a try.

The Deep Fried Wontons came to the table next!

This was also crispy in texture.  There was a lot of shrimp filling, absolutely no skimping out here! 🙂

Of course we had to have a dish of veggies!  So Duarte ordered a plate of  Gai Lan.

The wine and garlic mixture was good, but nothing extraordinary with this dish.

What’s a meal without fried rice??

Duarte ordered the Salted Fish and Shredded Chicken Fried Rice. My opinion will be biased since this is my favourite fried rice dish, but I thought it was very tasty!   Okay, I’m not completely off since the others also thought this dish was very good and flavourful.

Overall, the portion sizes for their late night snacks are pretty generous.  The congee at night is still as good as having it during the daytime.   I think we’ve found our weekend congee spot! =)

LOL! I guess Deep Fried Intestines is not for everyone huh? I would have thought you would at least try it because you have quite a number of Asian restaurant posts. Why don’t you try it this way … get Marv to order this next time and ask him not to tell you what it is (or tell you it is pork cheek or something like that). Who knows … you may like it if you don’t know what it is.

Hahah I don’t think that trick will work since Marvs voice is super loud when he’s ordering hahaa I’d have to leave the building! But maybe next time I’ll try a piece…maybe… 🙂

I was here twice in the past 5 days, we’re definitely coming back for the late night specials. We like this place much better than Congee Noodle House.
