It has been a month since my first blog post into the world wide web! Thanks to everyone for visiting, commenting and the words of support! We’ve received such a great response and looking back, we’ve certainly eaten out a lot this past month! lol You’re all awesome! 🙂
It’s time for another homemade creation! This time it’s Marvs Homemade Clam Chowder. This was the first dish he ever made for me when we met =D, but I was too shy back then to take the container from him to eat it, so I only had a spoonful the first time… but not this time! =D
We decided to head over to Marvs friend Duartes place to make the clam chowder. It was a pretty chilly day, so it was a great idea to make such a hearty soup! 🙂
Vegetable stock
Half & half cream
Butter
Celery
Onion
Potatoes
Clam meat
Salmon
Step 1: Wash, peel and cut celery and potatoes.
Step 2: Cut onion and bacon.
Step 3: Cut salmon(okay..the first few steps could’ve been written up altogether, but since I had enough pictures for each one..I figured why not just post them up!) Oh, if you’re wondering about the peas and carrots, that was not added to the soup because I didn’t want any. So instead, they munched on it while making the soup 🙂
Step 4: Once we’ve chopped up the ingredients, we started off by adding bacon with a hint of water(to retain a bit of crispiness.) in a pot. Next we added in the onions, celery and potatoes.
Step 5: Next, add in the clams, broth and cream. (Now it’s starting to look like a creamy chowder!)
Step 6: Continue cooking on stovetop to allow time for the vegetables to soften up. Add the salmon last as it only takes a few minutes for the salmon to be ready.
Step 7: While the soup is cooking, now would be the perfect time to prepare the bread. Marv decided to be extra ‘fancy’ today and serve the soup in a bread bowl! 🙂
And the verdict?? I definitely ate more than 1 spoonful 🙂 It was very tasty and not too thick. Total prep/cooking time was just over an hour.
Here’s a tip, the soup was a bit thin for our liking, so we used flour to help thicken up the soup to our liking 🙂
Duarte decided to add to our meal and heated up some brie and crackers!
How can I say no to cheese?? 🙂
Thanks for having us over again Duarte! 🙂

LC and Buddha Girl – Yes! Please do try out the recipe and let us know how you like it! =) I’m totally craving some chowder again now that I’m sick.. haha … Marv??? =D
That looks amazing! Awesome job! And – that’s so cute that you were too shy to eat it =) Were the clams originally frozen? I’ve always had trouble with clams, somehow mine always turn out kinda sour.
