I remember back in high school, we would eat at Red Robin all the time! I still remember how the menus would be SO big, that you would be knocking the menu of the people sitting across from you by accident, BUT they’ve changed this feature. It’s now a smaller folded rectangular version. On this day, Marv ‘n I met up with my friend Edwin for lunch! 🙂
Red Robin’s
4640 Kingsway, Burnaby BC
Tel: (604) 439-7696
We were seated promptly in a booth. I enjoy reading the cardboard coasters, gives you something to talk about if the conversation goes stale :p
Edwin was telling us that he also hasn’t been to Red Robins in a long time, that makes 3 of us! Haha the seasoning salt… goes so well with the fries! 🙂
We started off with the Tower of Onion Rings. I like how the onion rings go from big to small. I always seem to forget that the onion rings are super hot when it first arrives! I always burn my mouth on my first bite >_< The onion rings are all consistently crispy, it comes with 2 dipping sauces.
Edwin went with the Whiskey River Chicken BBQ Burger.
The chicken was slathered with the Whiskey River BBQ sauce topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onion straws and mayo. Edwin thought the burger would’ve been better if it was served hot instead of lukewarm. He likes this burger because of the onion straws that it comes with. It’s a good thing we ordered the onion ring tower then! 🙂
Marv went with the Banzai Burger. He recalls this as being the first meal/burger that he ate with me, along with the onion rings. This burger is doused in teriyaki sauce and topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo and a grilled pineapple. I found the pineapple and the sauce made the bun too soggy for my liking. Marv on the otherhand enjoyed this burger… up until i accidently knocked the burger into his pool of ketchup for the fries in his basket… Sorry Marv! 🙁
I decided to be different from the boys and ordered the Classic Creamy Mac ‘n Cheese.
I’ll admit it, I love mac ‘n cheese! It’s my favourite comfort food of all time. They give you a generous portion of the salad, thick slices of cheese bread and a piping hot plate of mac n cheese. The cheese bread was only lukewarm, but it was still soft and chewy. The cheese on the mac tasted like it was made from the Kraft dinner packet. It was very creamy.
Overall, foodwise was good for the $$. Our server was attentive and friendly. I saw kids getting balloons, and it made me want a balloon too! Company-wise it was great! Thanks for coming out for lunch Edwin! I noticed that I seem to only eat mac ‘n cheese when dining with Edwin. We’ll have to do it again! 🙂
