Claypot Hot Pot

Marv and his friends went to Claypot Hot Pot while I was sick at home….am I getting the sympathy vote yet? lolol!

Check out his post below! 🙂

Me and my friends rarely get a chance to eat out. And with this group, it’s almost like once a year.
Since we can all eat an enormous amount of food and we don’t really care so much for a la carte, AYCE places is always a number one choice.  And because it is freakin cold outside and we’re all waiting for the snow to come down, hotpot is the place to go.   Sure enough by the time we finished eating, the flurries have turned into snow.

Claypot Hot Pot & BBQ
8291 Alexandra Rd unit 105, Richmond BC

This hotpot place used to be called something else and it was a soso dive.  But now that its been renovated and being operated under new management. The place looks amazing.

Waited for everyone to arrive and they all got there about 2mins apart from each other. Which was real nice of them to do so. But still gave me enough time to ponder over the menu sheet and tick away at it. Tony basically said to just start ticking off every item.
Which we sorta did. So while we waited for our items to come I had enough time to mix up my sauce.

For only a dollar more per person you get unlimited pop or plum. We all had plum! But added a couple of sprites later on.

Our soup base came 1st. We opted to have a combination of SATAY and PORK BROTH soup. Both had good flavor but the satay was real good quality satay.

It’s always fun being hungry and waiting for the soup to boil, in my opinion it adds to the meal experience. lol

And here comes the food, quick and generously portioned suits us just fine.

I’m letting the pictures do all the talking here cause what can I really say……

All the items were very fresh and the meats we’re kept in the right temp before serving.  I am impressed.

Above left is the lamb and above right is the sliced ribeye.

Above left is the tofu puff and above right is the frozen tofu.

Above left is the mushrooms.  Of course we tried some of their cooked dishes as well, they were also good.
Above right is the deep fried fish skins!  It was gone in seconds I tell you.

Below left is the potato slices.  I couldn’t figure out what this dish was so I ordered it anyways just to see. It was actually very delicious, has a vinegar type marinade to it which made it yummy.

Above right is the sticky rice with preserved meats.  Another winner here!  Too bad it took forever to come outta the kitchen. Me and Tony split this between us.

Mango pudding!  They have mango pudding!

I had 3 servings. Enough said

In the end, Sammi and X-Fan held up their share of the eating. Eldon and Kevin W were the first to give up  =P
While Tony seems to have found a competition with Albert as to who can last the longest. lol As for myself, let’s just say that my stomach was already sticking out before I ate my puddings. haha
I’d like to thank all my friends for coming out and having a good time but mostly for being patient while I took pix of the food. peace!
