Tomoya

Welps, Marv ‘n I decided to relive our youth and stroll around Metrotown on a Saturday night.  I must say that I did feel quite old and like I didn’t fit in lol!   There were tons of tweens/teens around in groups.  I wonder if that’s what we looked like back in the day!  Anyways, needless to say, we did not last very long in the mall and ended up heading over to Tomoya for dinner.

Tomoya
6285 Nelson Ave #A1, Burnaby BC

Actually we had originally wanted to dine at Lao Shan Dong, but it was much too busy and we didn’t feel like waiting, so we ended up at Tomoya next door.  Upon entering the restaurant, only 2 other tables were occupied, so we were quickly seated in a booth 🙂  I prefer booths rather than tables scattered in the middle of the room, guess I’m more of a private setting person.  We decided to get a few dishes to share.

First item to arrive was the Miso Soup.

The soup turned out to be very rich and tasty.  This was served piping hot, just the way I like it! 🙂

We opted to order some Toro Nigiri.

The toro slices were very thin, with a lot of rice filler.  This was quite plain, nothing too special about it.

Next up was the Negitoro Roll.

We found this to be nice and flavourful, but then again, when do we not like negitoro! 🙂  Are there any places that have Negitoro don?!

Marv decided to try their Chopped Scallop Roll.

This was a miss.  He found it to be much too saucy and not enough pieces of scallops.

Since it was a Saturday, the roll of the day was the Paradise Roll.

This roll came drenched with too much sauce.  It felt very heavy eating this.

Last, but not least, we ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box.

This turned out to be the best value of the night.   They give you a generous amount of rice and the chicken was juicy and not the least bit dry.  The tempura batter was also not too thick.

Overall, we were not disappointed with our visit to Tomoya but I think next time we’ll stick to the bento boxes here.

@WUsha NO! You have to go! Colleen & Marv’s post doesn’t do it justice! (sorry guys) They have delicious special rolls aside from the paradise roll and fabulous squid and the quality has never disappointed me! *cry*
