Continuing on Marvs birthday, his family wanted to take him to Ebi Sushi to celebrate! 🙂 It was very nice of them to invite me along as well! 🙂 Now, I’m not sure if this place is called Ebi or Ebei. They recently renovated in November and the new sign out front shows Ebi, however the sign where the bush is covering says Ebei. Can anyone confirm? I’m just gonna go with Ebi for now!

Once inside, the seating arrangement is still as I remembered it, however there are booths for seating towards the back half of the restaurant instead of cramped tables. The tabletops are now also much nicer. We arrived a bit late since we hit a bit of traffic and to be honest, we didn’t even leave the house on time lol! Sorry sorry!
Above left is the Salmon and Tuna Sashimi. These were quite fresh. Above right is the Crab Sunomono.
Above left is the Raw Oysters. His family enjoyed this, however when the 2nd round of oysters came, they found that the shells would come apart as they ate it so they would get pieces of shells with each bite =( The Spicy Salmon shown above right was a huge hit with the table!
So naturally, we had to get more of it! lol! Above right is the Gomae. They were quite generous with the servings of each item. We recently ate at another place and the gomae serving was probably less than 1/4 of this one!
Above left is the almight Gyoza! Yes, this was my order, how did you know! 🙂 I enjoyed this filler dish, it was served quite hot, rather than luke warm like other places. Above right is the Chicken Knees. Guess who ordered this one?! Marv loves this dish! I don’t really understand why…
Above left is the Prawn Tempura. This was quite crispy and not as oily as I thought it would be. The Oyster Motoyaki shown above right on the other hand was quite oily and was not enjoyed by our table.
The Agedashi Tofu shown above left was just alright. Beef Ribs shown above right!
Ahh, the Green Salad, I enjoyed this so much that I had 2 bowls of it! 🙂 Everything was so crisp, with enough sauce. I loved it! The BBQ Ika came next! The table thought it was a bit too chewy for their liking.
Of course Marv had to get the Beef Tongue shown above left. Again, I did not try this out lol! And of course our nigiri orders above right and below left.
Haha, guess what the above right dish is?!?! PORK CHEEKS! All thanks to Food For Buddha, Marv is now on a Pork Cheeks hunt! 🙂
Yes, I also had to order the Seafood Fried Rice. Yes, I know it’s just a filler lol! This was just okay. And to finish off the meal, we had Mango Pudding! Mmm…mango pudding! 🙂 I think I enjoyed this place more than any of the other AYCE Japanese restaurants. I think the next time we’re craving for quantity over quality, we’ll be sure to come back here!

Hah! The name changed and I presume the management too. When we were there some time ago, it was known as E-Bei … hehehe which sounded like eBay. Anyway, here is the pix of the old E-Bei:
I always here about this place and people give it good reviews.
Next time we go for sushi, I will defintely suggest this place!
PS I think “they” treat you as FAMILY already. LOL ;p
Yay, oysters!!!
Do they still have AYCE unagi “sashimi”?? I’ve only been there once (just because it’s so far away from any Skytrain station!) but recall being really impressed.
oooo i didnt know EBEI (i will ALWAYS call this place EBEI) has chicken joints!
I MUST BACK HERE!
pork cheeks! fascinating! must try that too!
Thanks for letting me know…
