We’ve been wanting to visit the Hogshack for awhile now since others have been mentioning how good it is. We just had to see what all the fuss was about! So finally one wednesday night, Marv, his sister, Belinda and I made our way over to the Hogshack for dinner! Alright Marv, laugh it up about how blurry this next picture is :p

We arrived a bit later than expected, our apologies to our dining companions for the night! Sorry for being late! When Belinda and I arrived at about 8:10, we were informed by Marv and his sister that the kitchen was actually closing at 8:30! We thought that was quite early for a weeknight, but I guess it was a quiet night. Although a table of 5 did show up shortly after we arrived, but we’re not sure if they were told about the 8:30 mark. I found it to be quite strange that since they had given us a time to order by, they did not seem to want to come take our order when we were ready. Instead, I found that they tried to not make eye contact and walked around the other side of the empty restaurant. I was not impressed.
For some reason, from the outside, I thought the place would be pretty big and spacious. I was wrong, this place was actually quite small. There was a huge stuffed pig on the upper shelf near the entrance way that I thought was super cute! I almost wanted to bring it home with me! lol 🙂 The above right was the BBQ Sauce which Belinda ended up overdosing on 🙂
.
Marv and his sister decided to get the Beef Brisket shown above and the Poutine shown below to share. There was quite a few slices of beef brisket and it came with 2 sides. They went with the coleslaw and potato wedges. Actually, they only received 4 pieces of potato wedges, we thought that was quite little.
The poutine was quite salty, but portion wise, it was quite big.
Belinda went with the Pulled Pork Sandwich. There was quite a bit of meat in this sandwich. I think it might have been quite dry, she kept squirting on tons of bbq sauce after each bite! Lol, I thought we were going to run out of sauce by the end of her sandwich! hee hee 🙂
Since I’ve been on a burger phase, I decided to get the Mighty Mushroom Burger. This was chocked full of mushrooms. The burger was a bit dry and the fries were overcooked and were mainly small end pieces(like they were at the bottom of the bag.) I think if I were to compare it to Burgers Etc, it’d be Burgers Etc hands down!
Overall, we found the food here to be just alright(if even that). Maybe it was because we were there at the end of the night, but 8:10 could hardly be called early? Service in the beginning was pretty much nonexistent, that is until I started snapping some pictures and suddenly we could not be left alone lol 🙂 Not sure if I would revisit though as it did not ‘wow’ us, and Burgers Etc is much closer to where I am 🙂

Hi LD, you got me all excited when I read the title of this post. I thought Marv went for the Flatline Burger challenge that you and Buddhagirl have talked about. LOL
LOL!! I’m sure we’ll get to it sooner or later…well Marv is hoping for much later…haha =)
No…we haven’t got time to set up the event yet…SORRY guys!!! We were thinking sometimes at the end of March…
WOW…kitchen closes at 8:30pm? That’s so early!
hehe no worries BG! =) Marv’s been hoping for much later hahha!
Yeah!! It was really early!! But I guess it’s cause there was only about 3 other tables in there and then our table walked in and another table of 5 walked in.. but still, quite early!
YUM!
I want to try the poutine and beef brisket!
It looks DELICIOUS especially the POUTINE!
Price?
I believe the poutine was about $8+ if you want to add in some meat!
Beef brisket was $14 =)
Hey guys here’s a video of someone taking on the flatliner challenge. Not sure if you’ve seen it already. He’s got good technique.
