It’s a Sunday night, and Marv made plans for dinner with his friends, so we all ended up Sushi Garden on Lougheed. Parking is pretty scarce considering most of the spots are marked for Staples Customers only. We did manage to park somewhere along the front since Staples had already closed for the day. As per usual, Duarte was late! :p So Marv ‘n I went to wait for a table since it was already pretty busy in the restaurant.

When I feel like waiting in line, I’ll head over to Sushi Garden. I can’t even think of a visit where I didn’t have to wait. While we were waiting, I noticed a lot of older ladies kept staring at us. Actually, pretty much everywhere we go I’ve noticed a lot of older ladies staring at us. Does it bother anyone else when people stare?? It’s especially weird if you stare back and they don’t even look away! Whhhy!
Anyways, after the long wait and the staring, I needed to get a Large Asahi to take my mind off things!
It was also a bit cold outside, so I decided to get a Miso Soup to help warm me up. Beer and soup? What a combo! 🙂 The soup was piping hot when it arrived to the table. I enjoyed the bigger chunks of tofu put into the soup. Above right is the Salmon and Tuna Sashimi.
Marv decided to get the Toro Nigiri shown above left. The slices of toro on the rice was very generous. The texture was also of good quality.
I went with the Tekka Don shown above right. The pieces of tuna were pretty big and tasty! I didn’t expect the bowl to be so big, so I ended up giving what I couldn’t finish to Marv(like usual) lol! 🙂 There was plenty to share around the table.
Marv also went with the Spicy Tuna Combo. This included a spicy tuna roll, kappa roll and spicy tuna sashimi. I remember ordering the spicy tuna don one time, and after my first bite, I was unable to eat the rest of it! Lol, so I was not willing to try it again! Marv enjoyed the spice and was sweating by the end of the meal. Marv kept eyeing my asahi! Tsk tsk, too bad he was driving for the night 🙂
Duarte decided on the Prawn and Sweet Potato Tempura. The tempura batter was delicate and light. The dipping sauce was delicious and sweet.
Last roll to arrive to the table was the Crab Loves Papaya. This had pieces of papaya and deep fried crab meat. Anyone want to chime in on how this roll was?? I ended up not trying this roll.
Overall, the meal was alright. The Asahi did wonders. Sushi Garden is definitely one of the restaurants that I would like to frequent more often, but the lineups are a complete turn-off for me.
