I haven’t seen my best friend Kevin in a while and it was high time we got together. Colleen had other plans that night. lol I told Kev to decide on a place where I’ve never been to before, so I can go blog about it. hahaha I use to live on Main St and I was always a fan of the numerous types of restaurants available and since the both of us are no strangers to Main St, it was the area to go.

We got there just after 7:30pm, and the place was packed! I think we both forgot about a certain St Patties day thingy. lol You see, both Kev and I use to go out drinking alot, but those days are behind us now….right kev? hehe anywayz—it gave us more time to catch up and talk about ourselves more. lol About 5mins standing there we got greeted and a name were taken. Not long after did we get seated, I’d say we were lucky considering how busy the night was. Our wait couldn’t have been more than 10mins max…
I couldn’t take a picture of the inside because it was very dark and very crowded. But this place is compact! Our table was those of mini standards. Very cozy to our neighbor diners and if you listen closely enough, you can certainly pick up conversations. lmao.
We were both hungry and the menu had some items that really had my attention. However, since Kev has been here before he suggested tonights menu. I had no objections.
We started of with the Salt Spring Island Mussels. This dish was carefully simmered and held together by a lovely yet not overly spicy red curry coconut milk sauce, it was an absolute thing of beauty. The mussels were plump and flavourful, you can clearly tell just how fresh the ingredients were to this dish and it’s an easy repeat for my next visit. The Sesame Flatbread served on top was perfect for dipping into the sauce which in all honesty (where’s a bbt straw when you need one?) would have been slurped in a heartbeat.
Up next came our second appetizer, Deep fried Calamari. This was served with a Roasted pepper/ smoked paprika aioli on the side……..let’s be frank here and say that the sauce was totally awesome, really! But the calamari was so well seasoned and cooked to perfection that I completely forgot about the sauce till Kev pointed it out. lol Hence you don’t even see it in the pictures. haha. Also on my repeat list! =)
The Pemberton Meadows Natural Beef burger was one of our mains, this is Kev’s favorite thing to order here and well, when he mentioned the word ‘burger’ earlier on in our conversations I really wanted to have this all to myself, but! I’m learning to share here…lmao…so we kindly asked our server if the kitchen would be so kind as to cut it in half for us. Gladly they did. As the name states, its a natural burger, smothered in white ivanhoe cheese/ house bacon and a spread of mustard aioli to finish off this delicious burger. Was it as good as Kev said it would be? It would only have been better if I had the opportunity to eat the other half as well, hahahahahahaha
Finally our second main, the Mushroom Pizza. Who could have imagined us ordering a veggie pizza?? lol But this was no laughing matter. Roasted mushrooms/pesto/edam and goat cheese with fresh spinach on top. Just reading that makes me want to order it again. Clearly you can see from the picture just how generous they are with the mushrooms. This was a total treat, in fact, I had to put down my burger and devoured 2 slices before anything else conversation or otherwise can further progress. SOOOO YUMMY! I didn’t take a picture of the crust but it was thin, the good kind. Very crispy yet tender, like a cracker-ish. The combination of the mushrooms and cheeses is a complete victory for the restaurant and chef. A must try!
All in all, dinning here was a good surprise. Fresh ingredients, friendly helpful staff and a very lively atmosphere with a liquor selection to match.
I will definitely be back with Colleen. =)
