Alright, I just had to try this place out. I saw a post on Follow Me Foodie’s page regarding a Blueberry Glutinous Ball and I knew I had to come give it a try! 🙂 Since Marv ‘n I had a day off on friday, we headed over to Jade in the morning to try out a few items! 🙂
The Jade Seafood Restaurant
8511 Alexandra Rd, Richmond BC

It was pretty busy for a friday morning! I guess everyone had the same idea to take a friday off. Luckily we were able to snag a table without waiting =)
Everything is quite clean and the restaurant was very spacious. We found their items to be a bit pricier than the average dim sum place, but I guess we are paying for quality and service at this place. It doesn’t bode well with us since Marv eats a lot, and enjoys eating a variety of items, the bill just seems to add up quite quickly! Lol!
To start, we ordered the Pan Fried Taro Cake shown above right. This was just alright and not oily. We concluded we enjoy the usual radish cake more than the taro cake.
Next came the Steamed Mushroom Dumpling. We were pleasantly surprised by how tasty this was! The dumpling was full of mushrooms and flavour. We thoroughly enjoyed this dish.
Next to arrive was the Pan Fried Bun with Beef Tenderloin in Black Pepper Sauce. We did not enjoy this item. There was just too much bun and not enough filling. I also found it to be on the dry side, where was the black pepper sauce?!
Ahh, finally, what we really came here for, the Blueberry Glutinous Ball(cold)
It’s a good thing there are four pieces rather than 3, otherwise we would’ve had to fight for it! lol! The blueberry mochi was a nice alternative for a dessert item rather than the typical egg tart or mango pudding. It ended up being smaller than expected, can be easily eaten with 1 bite. It had a clean feel to it, and was very refreshing at the end of the meal. This is definitely something we would order again! =)
Overall, service was very prompt and attentive. We ended up agreeing to only ordering a couple of dishes to try since we were going to take Marvs parents out for lunch right after lol! =) I think if we wanted regular dim sum dishes, we’ll go elsewhere, but we’ll be back for this blueberry mochi! Yummm!
