What a great day! It finally feels like spring in Vancouver! =) I had been wanting to come to Mui Garden for awhile, and since I had gotten off work early, I decided to head over for a quick meal. The place was fairly empty once we arrived. I found the parking lot to be quite small, however there is rooftop parking available as well if you end up with no spot up front.

The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived. Alright, it’s probably because we got there just after 4pm lol! Yes, I know, quite early. There was a lot of take out orders while we were there. I already knew what I wanted to order before I even sat down, it took Marv a couple of mins to decide on his order.
We decided to go with their ‘All Day Set Meals’ which includes either a drink or soup of the day. We both decided to go with their drinks, Marv got an Iced Lemon Tea and I went with an Iced Coffee. The iced coffee was very sweet, but I very much enjoyed it. I like the plastic cups that it came in, it was fairly big, almost felt like there was an endless amount!
For my meal, I went with the Boneless chicken Curry with Rice. I thought portion wise, it was quite small. It’s safe to assume that they cook their meats/curry separately, and pour on the curry to whichever meat you choose. Notice how the chicken isn’t even covered? I found my dish to be very oily, can you see how much oil there is in the 2nd picture? I was a bit disappointed with it, there were a ton of onions in this dish and a giant piece of potato on the end of the plate. There wasn’t even enough curry sauce to coat all of the rice.
Marv went with the Rock Cod and Tofu on Rice. This came out piping hot. The fish was pretty fresh and crispy. The tofu was nice and firm. The sauce for this dish was the real winner.
Overall, I think their prices are a bit high for the portion. The curry was too oily for my liking. If I were to make another stop to this restaurant, I’ll remember to steer clear of their curry.

Hi LemonDroplet, curry is really their signature dish along with Hainan chicken and rice. So dont really shun it. Suggest next time you eat there (if you’re still going back), to order their curry beef brisket. It is quite good and no onions at all. Its actually my ATF dish there. BTW, the fish in Marv’s dish, do you know if its Basa fillet? Im trying to avoid Basa fillet because Ive heard a lot of bad things on it on the way it is farm raised in Vietnam. You can tell if its basa if the fish is sliced thin like a fillet. Cod will be more of a chunky cut.
Hey Crispy! 🙂
I will definitely go back to try their beef brisket! The oil in my curry just made it look unappetizing, but I did find it quite tasty! (I should’ve put that in my post lol) Marv says the fish in his dish was cod.. hmm basa fillet? Your comment made me curious, so I had to google and read up on it… wow! totally made me loose my appetite, thanks Crispy, you’ve made me more wary when ordering fish dishes! =)
