After meeting up with Food For Buddha for breakfast, we decided to get together for dinner and watch the hockey game on tv…….During breakfast, BB had come up with a ton of suggestions on what he can make for dinner, this got both Colleen and I pretty excited for the meal to come!
Be sure to head on over to their site and check out their post here!
Also, check out the first dinner feast here.
Yeah, just an impromptu get together. But knowing BB/BG there will be a lot of food and plenty of funny conversations to go around. Btw, thanks to the first dinner at BG/BB’s, Colleen is now hooked on Fresca!! Thanks guys :p haha!
We didn’t really have a theme regarding dinner so it was just a mix of mainly asian cuisine. I’ve been wanting to have BB taste a specific type of marinade I use for pork, so I quickly put together some Pork Belly and mixed up a marinade. BB had set up a indoor electric grill for us to use and it was already hot and ready to go by the time Colleen and I arrived.
So once we got ourselves ready, we started grilling. On the left side of the pork belly were some Stuffed Chicken Wings, yes, de-boned and stuffed! So skilled of BB =) the wings were later finished off in the deep fryer for the extra crisp. The wings were stuffed with pork, a vietnamese type ground pork. On the right were some fish ball skewers draped in bacon. lol.
Normally the pork belly is cooked over a bbq and the flames which flare up from it helps sear the pork really well. However the electric grill works just as well, it got smoky at the end but windows were open. To serve them is simple, cut them up into smaller pieces so its easier to eat and dip. The vegetable on the side of the pork is nothing but some store bought atchara mix. Best accompaniment ever!
Now, the reason I will never say ‘no’ to coming over is BB’s taiwanese chicken nuggets. The BEST I tell you, BEST! I literally ate an entire plate. Of course, picture not able to be shown/taken.
Curry filled spring rolls were nicely fried and the curry inside was well spiced. I didn’t bother to take more than a bite from Colleen because I was too focused on the nuggets………lol
BG went to a lot of trouble to put these next few items together. Yes, BG cooked all these! hehe….chive dumplings/wontons…..all good stuff I tell you. Feel free to ask Food For Buddha as to where to purchase such delectable yummy goodness.
And here are some more dumplings, but different kinds of course. On the left we have a green onion pancake. A bit doughy and not enough green onions was the consensus on the table.
Home made hainan chicken by BB! it was de-boned too! So good! If it wasn’t for the chicken nuggets I would have consumed 70% of this chicken because the best part about it was…………………………BB’s hainan rice! Colleen’s favourite dish of the night, I think if I didn’t keep putting other food on her plate, she’d have only eaten the rice by itself haha. It’s soo good, Colleen and I packed up all the left over rice to go! ahhahaa No seriously, enormous flavors and an incredible fragrance coming from the rice and it was intoxicating to say the least. Better than any I have ever eaten in my entire life. And I have eaten my fair share of hainan rice too. Excellent job BB, excellent!
BG mentioned during breakfast that she had a ice shaver at home, so the first thing that popped into my head was a halo-halo dessert. After confirming whether we can get ice to freeze in time Colleen and I dropped by a corner store to pick up a medley of sweet ingredients to go into the halo-halo.
After mixing a few spoons of each into a bowl, slap on that shaved ice and add the evaporated milk and condensed milk. We also grabbed a tub of taho as requested hehe…..
Tonights dinner was incredible, I was really glad we all decided to get together and hang out. I’ve never met nicer and honest people than bb/bg and I’m looking forward to more meetings and eating adventures. ASAP! hahahaha Thanks again for having us over to sample your delicious cooking and next time let’s have it at our place!

Thank you for coming over and keeping us company!!! You forgot to mention that Colleen “shaved” the ice for halo halo…bad bad Marv!!! Hahahahahaha! We got to do this more often!!! You’re too nice with some of the food…you got to be more mean and picky about BB’s food…like me…always picky even though there could be nothing wrong…hahahahaha! I am evil!!!
Colleen’s addicted to Fresca??? LOL!!! Because it does not state “diet” on the label…it’s the best “non-diet” diet pop…hahahahahahahahaha! I use it to fool my dad because he never drinks diet but he’s diabetic…yup, I am sneaky!
