Lao Shan Dong Homemade Noodle House

May 13, 2011 6:00 am / 7 Comments / 604munchies

Another rainy day! WOOOOT! Another reason to have a hot meal, hehe  And where else would I go besides my favorite noodle house, Lao Shan Dong.  There is parking available for this place but it is shared between all 3 restaurants encompassing the entire corner block, so if i were you Id forget about it and park at  either the Bay or the streets.  Seriously, that new Cattle cafe besides this place has a lot of customers, it looks small on the inside but having people standing outside waiting has gotten my attention.  Next time cattle!

Lao Shan Dong Homemade Noodle House
4887 Kingsway, Burnaby BC
Tel#:  (604) 439-9588

The decor in LAO is pretty basic, you can catch a view of the tv if you sit your back against the wall, so go for it.  It does get rather cramped in here when it gets busier.

There’s only the #3 that I like to order when I come here, Noodle with the brisket and tendons, yeah, both!  Half spicy, dont go crazy now with the spicy-ness, it does get to you.

The LARGE order we always get is HUGE!  I cant finish this by myself , no lie.

The pieces of the beef are always generous and tender.  The hand made noodles are good too.  The broth is what I really come here for, nice and tasty, well spiced, just that right amount of preserved green veg to compliment the soup base…….

Yummy, I want one now !

Hey Marv: Nice read! Before Cattle Cafe opened there was two other businesses that did not quite catch on. Back then it was the at LSD that the lines were. Every since Cattle Cafe opened, there is a marked difference in the people visiting LSD … there are lesser people. So I never have any more problems getting a table at LSD. BTW, that was a strange comment about the “ugly couple”. Care to explain more but if it is too sensitive to say more, no problem. Am just being curious.

      Hey Ben,
We also noticed there’s less people visiting LSD now, but haven’t been back to try out Cattle Cafe yet.
As for the “ugly couple” comment, I try to EDIT his posts, but I guess I missed this one. I’ve changed it now… let’s just drop this and say Marv wasn’t in a good mood when he wrote this one up. 🙂

LSD is my favourite, first time I went I was shocked by how big the bowl was. I tried and failed at finishing, the noodles “expanded in my stomach” aha
I miss getting the candies with the bill though!

I’ve never tried LSD … oh wait, that sound bad. OK, I’ve never been to Lao Shan Dong but I did go to Cattle Cafe the other night! Again, huge bowl of noodles and soup (for $8, you pick your soup base, your noodles, and your meat and/or veg) and for $1.50 you can order chicken wings/vegetables/etc, and it comes with a drink. For some $1-2 extra you can get bubble tea!
Are the noodles made fresh here? If so, I’d like to try it. At Cattle Cow, INSTANT NOODLES are a choice on the menu!
