Restaurant is now closed

I know it’s closed, but this was scheduled to be posted anyways..

Yay Gloucester!!  …at least that’s where we were originally heading, but then we strolled past this place and my tastebuds suddenly wanted some steamed pork dumplings!  Then Marv noticed a sign on the window stating if you order over $20 worth, they will give you steamed pork dumplings for free!  I’m SOLD!!  Gloucester will have to wait till another day.   So into Shanghai Village we went!

Shanghai Village
3250 Cambie Street, Vancouver BC
Tel#:  (604) 872-3618

We were pleasantly surprised by the tables and chairs inside.   There were only 2 other tables occupied when we got there, but it quickly filled up within an hour later!

Heh heh, we weren’t sure what the name of the restaurant ought to be.  The tableware was 1 name, the cups for iced water another name, and the awning outside the actual name =)

This is the Shredded Pork & Mushroom in Spicy Chili Garlic Sauce. Originally I ordered the shredded pork & SPINACH, but received mushrooms instead.  I was slightly disappointed as I really enjoy it with spinach(something my family would always order when I was younger), but the flavour was still just as good.  I’ll be sure to emphasize SPINACH next time. =)

We needed a bowl of rice to go with the shredded pork dish.  It went great with the sauce!   Out next came the Steamed Pork Dumplings. This was too hot to eat right away, so after we let it sit a bit, the wrap became a bit hard.  Each dumpling was quite juicy!

Marv decided on the Chicken with 3 Spice Sauce. This came served in a hot pot.  Marv ended up eating this entire dish as I was too focused on everything else!  Actually, to be honest, he offered me a piece of the chicken which I ate(and it turned out to be a giant piece of GINGER!!)  lol, so I ended up not eating any of this dish :p

Last but not least, we had an order of the Shanghai Style Fried Thick Noodle. This was not overly oily, and was very tasty.  The noodles weren’t soft, but chewy.  Portion wise, it was very generous!  Somehow we were able to finish it all =)  It looked so appetizing that another table pointed over and ordered the same thing lol! =)

Overall, the food was pretty solid here.  We enjoyed each of the dishes we ordered.  I’m glad we stumbled upon this place, now I know there’s a Shanghai restaurant for me to go to without crossing any bridges!  =)
