It’s a gloomy and rainy sunday afternoon. After some thought, Marv decided pho would be the best choice for a meal on a day like this! So we made our way over to Mui Ngo Gai located on Nanaimo and Broadway. This is my favourite place for pho, it’s close by to home and has a pretty good pho broth!

It was fairly empty since we had arrived at bout 4ish. There were a couple of tables with dirty dishes, guess those customers just left! Upon entering the place, the first thing you notice is all the hanging leaves/vines. The place is fairly clean, the walls are adorned with pictures. Feels kinda cozy!
To start us off, we ordered the Sliced Pork Salad Roll.
And I like this better than the shrimp. I’m not a big fan of seafood, so I guess meat ones will always be better for me lol! 🙂 They gave a heaping amount of their peanut sauce, I can never get enough of this dip! The dip may be the reason why I love this particular dish. I could eat this with anything!
Marv decided to go with the #39 – Wet Noodle Beef Satay with roasted peanuts, lemongrass, ground dried shrimp, pho rice noodle and bean sprouts. He thought this dish was very tasty with loads of flavour from the sauce. There was too little meat, but a very generous portion of noodles. This is definitely something he would reorder the next time around.
And I decided to go with the #77 – 3 meat(BBQ Chicken, pork chop and minced pork) on rice. Marv thought the minced pork resembled spam, but I found this to be very tasty. Probably my favourite meat of the 3 on the plate. The chicken was a bit oily but juicy. The pork chop was a tad on the dry side. There was a large amount of rice with a tiny side of salad. I enjoyed the spicy fish sauce on the side, usually I like to pour it all onto my rice to help add some flavour.
Overall, both our dishes were solid. We have eaten at this restaurant numerous times and have yet to be disappointed with the food here. Service is always friendly and prompt. It’s definitely a place we enjoy coming back to and will probably stop by again soon! =)

Thank you for eating at our restaurant and writing a review. We love to see reviews and learn what we do right and where we can improve. Just a couple of comments:
The chicken is finished with a flavoured canola oil that is made with fresh green onions and brushed on the chicken. The porkchop should not have been dry, please tell us when you are there as we would gladly make you another.
