Sushiholic… I pass by this place almost daily and haven’t stepped foot into it.  I think it’s because this restaurant feels out of place, with it being in a residential area, also it might be because I’ve watched other restaurants open up and close in this particular location.  Nonetheless, Marv ‘n I decided to stop and try it out one day.

It was a really nice Sunday morning and it was perfect walk around do nothing weather.  We decided to stop into Las Margaritas for an early lunch.  With my recent trip to Puerto Vallarta still lingering, I’ve been having cravings for many things Mexican.  =P

It’s a nice sunny Friday afternoon, and Marv came to pick me up from work.  We couldn’t decide where to go for dinner, so we decided to just head towards Vancouver anyways and see what we’ll come up with.  After a bunch of ‘no’s, we settled on Joeys Burnaby since I had enjoyed it during my last visit.

See my first visit here.

It was half full by the time we arrived there.  I really like this location since it’s easy parking, and not metered.  Marv decided to get the Beef Dip. The au jus is NOTHING compared to the one we’ve had at Fraser Park Restaurant.

As for me, I went with the Ahi Tuna Club again.  It was delicious the first time, and it was just as good this time!  I did find the tuna to be slightly overcooked, but I won’t hold that against them.  I also liked the skinny fries that came with this dish.  There seemed to be an endless amount in that bowl.  The onion ring remained nicely crisp when the sandwich was fully assembled.

Overall, the ahi tuna was a hit once again.  The beef dip, not so much.  Service was good, our waitress was friendly and quick on the refills.  Nothing to complain about here! =)

First off I’d like to say “sorry Meryl” ahahahaha I know you like this place! =]
Ahh, Kingsway sushi. I haven’t been here since it opened like a few years ago. And there was a good reason.  There’s parking along kingsway and a lot underneath the building.

Here we are at Pearl Castle.  After running a couple of errands for the day, Marv, Kevin and I headed over to Pearl Castle for some drinks to kill some time.  The place is conveniently located inside Richmond Centre.  Because of that, there is ample parking.  =)

Kevin had not eaten yet, so he decided to get a meal.  This is the Deep Fried Pork Chop with Rice.  This came with 3 side dishes and a grape jelly for dessert.  There was a nice amount of pork to go with the rice.  The pork chop was pretty good, tender and juicy, however the rest of the meal was just ‘meeeh’ as he said =)

Surprisingly, there was a generous amount of sides to go along with his meal!   For his drink, he decided to go with the House Special Milk Tea.  None of us were expecting this drink!  It came with whipped cream, chocolate syrup and SPRINKLES!   Lol, taste-wise, it was just a regular milk tea(a bit blandish) with a fancy topping.

And I decided to go with the Pudding Frappe with Pearls. This was thick and frothy.  There was no pudding pieces in this drink, and it was much too sweet.  Marvs drink is on the right, the Mocha Frappe with Pearls. This was quite disappointing, this drink was completely missed.  It didn’t arrive, and after a long wait, we asked the server if the drink was forgotten or even still on the way.  The waitress went to check and came back with a response that they had given his drink to another table by mistake.  Great!  She suggested that they could remake it, however we also waited quite a while for this drink.  Finally we decided to ask to have the drink in a takeout container as the rest of us had already finished our drink and kevin finished his meal.

Overall, their customer service was lacking.  It was quite difficult to flag down a server to take our order, to recheck on Marvs drink, to get Marvs drink in a takeout container, to get the bill.  We were quite disappointed that it took so long for them to remake a drink.  As this was a mistake on their part, I would think it would’ve been the next drink out, but instead it seems as if we were at the bottom of the list.  Because of this, we will not be coming to this particular location again.

When I was younger, my family liked to come to The Pantry for breakfast.  It was affordable, clean and less hectic than other places.  I enjoyed coming here for a leisurely breakfast.  Actually, it might just feel this way because of all the seniors that are usually here.  Nonetheless, I’ve always enjoyed it here.
