Saturday morning dim sum with Colleen’s family. It was decided on another restaurant but after hearing about the not so good quality of food there we ended up here instead. I’ve never been here myself and was eager to try out some place new. Upon entering the restaurant Colleen and I found our way to Mr.C pretty easily. No pushing required!

Its not like the restaurant was empty or nothing, in fact it was actually pretty full. But the crowd was very mature, not your typical dim sum crowd, large families with kids running around.
I’m a bit of a stranger in the middle of nowhere when ever we go to these chinese restaurants, you see, I don’t speak or understand cantonese, so I sit there with a grin on my face hoping that nobody is saying anything bad about me or anything like that LOL
First to arrive was this dish, I don’t know what its called but its pretty much a deep fried glutenous ball with pork filling. I enjoy eating this every where because its really chewy and yummy.
Next to arrive was Deep Fried Shrimp Spring Rolls. A quick seller on our table, didn’t last long before it was all gone. LOL
Two orders of Ha Gow…….typical. nothing special. I found the shell of it to be very gummy and dry.
Custard filled buns and my BBQ Pork Buns came next. Again, nothing special. The custard filling was the liquid yolk version, not a fan. And I didn’t really like my cha shiu. DRY on the inside and very dry/tough bao.
Chicken feet and spare ribs came next. The chicken feet was rather hard and the spare ribs were too mushy. Not very flavorful.
The sui mai was worse. Soooo bad man. It had no flavor. I didn’t even try the rice roll with beef filling. I did manage to sneak in the other gai lan on the left since Colleen’s family don’t seem to eat veggies. LMAO According to Colleen, the rice roll was a bit too think but other wise there was plenty of beef filling.
And finally the sticky fried rice and beef balls were the last to arrive…sticky rice wasn’t sticky, it was rather hard pieces of rice that managed to stick together for some reason. And the beef balls was an epic fail. Even the vinegar dip couldn’t save it. SHAME!
I found this place to cater to a certain taste bud, you know, the older people who ‘can’t eat anything with salt to flavor the dish with’ crowd. I will never go back here again. Also I’d like to point out that this place was not cheap. All their prices rival higher quality designer dim sum places like Sun Sui Wah or Kirin…..and I’d rather eat at those places if the prices are going to be just as high, probably much better quality too.
