Northern Delicacy visit #3

Here we are at Northern Delicacy again!  This time we invited Marvs family to join us for dinner.  At first we were going to eat at Master Hung, but every table was booked!  So off to Aberdeen we went, since we figured it’d be the easiest for parking, and with lots of choices inside, we were sure to find a place to seat us =)  Since we’ve been here a couple of times before, it only took us a couple of minutes to peruse the menu before we decided on our meal.  Check out our first visit here and our second visit here.

We started off with the Stir Fried Beef in Honey Garlic Sauce.  I found the portion for this dish to be quite small.  I was surprised to see mini buns along the rim of the plate.  The honey garlic sauce was quite sweet, but tasty and the beef was a bit tough and hard to chew.  The sauce went well with the fried rice we ordered below.

We ordered the Schezuan Style Seafood Fried Rice in Wok again.  I really enjoyed this dish the first time I tried it, however this time it was a bit flavourless.  It was also oilier than I had liked.

Marvs dad chose the Pan Fried Chicken Meat with Deep Fried Spinach(above left). I was quite surprised when this dish came to our table.  For some reason I was not expecting it to look like this, however it turned out to be my favourite dish on the table!  The sauce was a bit spicy yet sweet, and the deep fried spinach provided a pleasant crunchy texture to the dish.  We also ordered the Shanghainese Style Fried Noodle(above right).  This was also a bit oilier than I would’ve liked.  The flavour was also lacking for me.  Usually when this dish arrives to the table, the aroma is quite fragrant, but I thought it was missing in this dish.  There wasn’t a lot of meat or vegetables, but a generous amount of noodles.

Overall, the meal was just alright.  I enjoyed the food in the previous 2 visits a lot more than this one.  The service is always attentive and prompt, we had no issues with having to wave anyone over to refill our tea.  Despite a couple of misses with our dishes this time, I would still come back for a meal due to my previous experiences… I mean, everyone’s allowed an ‘off-day’ right?  =)
