When I was younger, my family liked to come to The Pantry for breakfast. It was affordable, clean and less hectic than other places. I enjoyed coming here for a leisurely breakfast. Actually, it might just feel this way because of all the seniors that are usually here. Nonetheless, I’ve always enjoyed it here.

The North Vancouver location is the closest to me, just over the bridge and there it is! I find this location to be nice and quiet. When we arrived, there was a bit of a lineup in the front. The people in front of us were quite frustrated that they had not been acknowledged yet while the host had said hello to us. That’s alright, Marv ‘n I were ready to let him know there were 2 other parties ahead of us, but the people ahead of us already sneered at us. Jeesh!
Their booth seating is a bit dated, but it gives off a cozy/warm setting. It feels like a place where you can bring your whole family and have a good hearty breakfast with some chatter. I of course couldn’t start my day off without my cup of coffee.
After perusing the menu a bit, our waitress let us know there was a breakfast buffet going on and if we were interested, it would be $9.95 per person. We decided that would be the best value for us since we were going to order breakfast items anyways. Their breakfast options ranged from about $9-$12 anyways and would have all the items we wanted. It just made sense lol 🙂 When we got to the table, there was quite a few items available. Bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, seasoned hash browns, pancakes, yogurt, granola, cereal, fruit, muffins(we were told there would be french toast, but we didn’t bother waiting for it.)
Quality of food was actually quite good! The scrambled eggs were fluffy and not overcooked, the hash browns had a nice flavour to it. The sausages weren’t dry or overcooked like other breakfast joints, the bacon was nicely crisp. I also enjoyed the pancakes, they were smaller in size so you don’t fill up on it.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed our meal here(despite the customer sneering at us). Food quality was great, we were full after our meal. I didn’t find the food here to be as oily as other breakfast joints. Our server was prompt in the coffee refills and coming by to check on us. Another solid experience at The Pantry! =)

OOOOH! $10 AYCE? We’ll be there soon!!! Bacon!!! Eggs!!! Sausages!!! YUM!!!
hehe yeah! 🙂 I think it’s only on sundays though!
Scott and I went to that same one on a Sunday and we had to get the front of house staff’s attention in order to reserve our spot. Then it took them much longer than the “5 minute wait” than we had been informed, and other people who had arrived later than us were seated earlier than us! When Scott brought this to the staff’s attention we got no apologies from the front of house but the person whom he told apologized and said something about number of guests vs size of table needed. She also called Scott “Mr Scott” for the remainder of the day and our experience from then on in was reasonably pleasant. I thought their sausages needed a little more time in the pan but I loaded up on the smoked salmon, cheese and fresh fruit. Note: The Pantry in New Westminster has been remodeled but it still doesn’t do Sunday brunch buffets!
