It was a special occasion. Colleen’s cousin just got married earlier on in the day and its now time for the reception dinner! Located in the strip mall of the corner of number5 and Cambie, this restaurant has been here for the longest time and this was only the first time I’m trying this place out. I would also like to point out that the parking lot is weird, all the spots have a written time limit on them, which I don’t think mattered once it was after office hours.

After a few memorable moments shared our food came out one by one. I’d like to also point out that our table for 12 only had 7 people on it. So which means only one thing, more food for yours truly!
First to arrive is my all time favorite, the cold cut appetizer platter, this was filled with roast pork/bbq duck/jelly and other things ….
Next to arrive is a crowd pleaser. Deep fried crab claws!! So delicious! I ate only one, yes 1! I was more than willing to share, jeesh! I share, I share.
Next were the scallop and broccoli with honey toasted walnuts, a speech was said then followed by the shark’s fin soup. Mr.C sat next to me and I kept putting food onto his plate, hahhaa. Nothing too special about the soup and the scallops, but we all enjoyed the honey toasted walnuts. Very crunchy and a good rendition of it.
Ahhhhhhhhh, LOBSTER! I ate most of this dish, there were so much lobster that even I was starting to get full from it. The lobster itself was very fresh, nice bounce to its meat and the sauce the cooked it in had a real good depth in its flavor. Steamed fish in soy sauce was next to arrive. I believe another speech was in progress but I was too busy with my lobster to pay attention. lol. The fish was very fresh, right amount of soy, not overly salty and it was fragrant.
Oyster mushrooms with kai lan and the crispy chicken came next. Your not going to believe me when I say this but, the old man across from me spilt his red wine into the mushroom dish right after he took a serving for himself. Colleen’s brother had to help him clean up and luckily nothing got on to anybodies clothing. Needles to say, nobody got to try it.
The chicken however was rather a fail. It was very dry and had very little taste to it. Why couldn’t the old man have spilt it on the chicken instead! aiyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
And here’s what Colleen has been waiting for the whole night………… Yee foo noodles and honeymoon fried rice. I was already way too full to eat anything else, so I only had a little of both for these 2 items, and it wasn’t spectacular to say the least. Average in both.
For dessert they presented us with some almond cookies and your typical sweet red bean soup. Again, very typical in flavor nothing new or different.
Overall our dinner was great. I thoroughly enjoyed the earlier dishes and liked the fact that I didn’t have to sit there and have like 1 piece of each item, I hate that. Can you believe we will be dining here again for another friends wedding reception soon? hahaahhaa Hope the quality of the food stays the same.
