Outback Steakhouse

It’s the 3rd day into our Vegas trip!  My brother had been telling me over and over again to try Outback Steakhouse, raving about their onion blossom.  We came across one near our hotel on the strip, so we decided to seize the opportunity and give it a try!

Outback Steakhouse
3411 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas NV  89109
Tel#:  (702) 251-7770

From the outside, we thought it would be pretty empty.  We were mistaken!  Once we got up to the 4th floor and the doors to the elevator opened up, we were surprised to see all the people inside!  Wow, this place must be good if it’s packed at 4pm! 🙂

Inside, it’s dimly lit and gives off a pub-like feel.  We were seated in a booth and left to peruse their menu.  Upon opening it, I was already searching for their onion blossom as I knew my brother would not let me live it down if I did not try it!

We were given a loaf of bread to start.  It was crisp on the outside and warm/soft/chewy on the inside, just the way I like it! 🙂  I was in the process of devouring the entire loaf, but Marv insisted I not finish it all as there was the rest of the meal to look forward to.  I.put.down.the.bread.

Here it is!!  The highly anticipated Bloomin’ Onion.  We were both surprised when this came to our table.  It’s a lot bigger than we expected(even though the menu clearly says for 4+ people)  It was fairly crisp, each piece was nicely fried.  As we kept eating, there was a large amount of oil on the bottom of the plate.  I ended up eating a bit and then felt all clogged up by the oil.

Once Marv saw an aged 32 oz steak on the menu, he looked no further!  The outer part of the steak was cooked to a nice medium rare, however once he got towards the bone, it was far too rare for his liking.

He ended up sending it back to further cook the rest of the steak.  Since it was a larger piece of meat, it was harder to evenly cook without making the sides well done.  We thought they did a fairly good job as it was.  His entree also came with 2 sides, Marv opted for french fries and a caesar salad. When we did send back the steak, the kitchen ended up frying up a new batch of fries and even gave more than what was left.  That was quite nice of them.  The caesar salad ended up being a huge portion which took up an entire plate itself.

Since I was going to steal a bite of Marvs steak anyways, I decided to get the Bacon Cheeseburger.  I think my eyes did a little O_O when it arrived to the table.  The burger was a lot bigger than I had expected.  It was very juicy, the bun was nicely toasted, it was delicious!  I even voiced out that this was how a burger should taste like!  I think that outburst was because I had been to Romer’s twice in a week, and this burger reigned superior to those 2 visits.  I was already pretty full when I finished 1/2 the burger, so Marv lent a hand and helped me eat the rest of my meal!  Yes, he sure can eat!

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this experience.  We’ll definitely be visiting Outback again(preferably one closer to home).  Next time we won’t be ordering the bloomin onion unless there’s at least 4 of us sharing it =)

The onion blossom looks so cool!! But hearing about the oil… yuck 🙁
And yeah I saw the Outback at Burlington, as BB mentioned. They also have locations in Hong Kong… I was gonna go last year when I really wanted some non-Chinese food, but alas I didn’t try it
