Homemade Surf ‘n Turf @ FFB

Another feast at Food For Buddha’s!  This time the theme of the night was Surf ‘n Turf!  If I haven’t said this before, I am going to say it now.  Food For Buddha are amazing host/hostesses!  We feel very fortunate that they welcome us over to their place and to have such a great meal each time.  Thank you guys!! 🙂

Please check out Food For Buddha’s post here!

When they hold a dinner at their place, they really go all out, right down to the detail!  (btw, yellow is a great choice!  I love the colour yellow) =)  Do you notice there’s a little hammer for each of us?  and even a butter warmer!!  See..right down to the detail.

They even provided bibs for each of us!  I thought these bibs were quite cute!  I’m extremely glad we were forced to wear these bibs, as I easily would’ve soiled myself right from the beginning, but thanks to this bib, it saved my tshirt! 🙂  To the right is BB’s clam chowder.  I thought it was pretty good as is, but BB thought it lacked enough clam taste.  Always so hard on yourself BB, it was good! 🙂

Some raw oysters handshucked by BG!!  Great job I might add! 🙂  I normally don’t eat raw oysters, so I decided to let them enjoy my share as well.  Why waste it on someone who’s not particular a big fan of them 🙂   Next we have the Pork Jowl. I only had a small piece, but this was pretty tasty!  This is definitely something that’ll become a ‘must have’ when I bbq from now on!

Next up is the Beef Tenderloin, marinated with herbs ‘n truffle oil.  Unfortunately I also didn’t try this as I was much too busy with the rest of the food on the table lol 🙂

And here’s the main attraction of the night!  FFB decided to try doing a home version of Crab Pot!  Once this was put onto the table, I think my face looked a bit like this O____O.  It was massive!  I couldn’t wait to dig in, but had to wait for us all to take pictures lol!  Everyone was having a great time using the mini hammers to break open the shells, but I seemed to have the most problem…okay i was the ONLY one to have problems cracking it open lol!   Thanks Marv for helping me out on this one 😀

Thanks BB for making Mac ‘n Cheese! And not 1 but 2 types!!  I absolutely love mac ‘n cheese, the best comfort food in my eyes.  Unfortunately I was so full from everything else, that I only had a little bit of the mac ‘n cheese.  It was a tad dry, but I’ll chalk it up to it sitting on the table for awhile before I dug into it.

More food?? Yes!!  FFB showered us with fruits that they picked up from Granville Island during the day.  The strawberries were so plump and sweet and the ranier cherries were delicious.  It was a nice to have some fruit after the meal.

Lol, and Marv is truly spoiled, more watermelon?!   If you’re thinking the eaten 1/2 watermelon on the right with a spoon is Marvs, then you’re correct!  He devoured it without sharing!   Luckily BG had sliced up the other 1/2 for the rest of us 🙂

The fruit was not the end, we also had Crepes for dessert!  I wonder if BB felt nervous as we all watched him making each crepe wrap for us, no pressure!! lol 🙂

These were no ordinary fold over crepes, we were strictly instructed by BG that we MUST fold each one a different way.  She even provided us with instructions, so I quickly snaggedup the easiest to fold crepe and went for it  Of course, it didn’t turn out the way I had hoped, but at least there’s effort?  I gotta admit, BG’s crepe folding was pretty good, and she got the harder ones! 🙂  BB decided to make his crepe into a breakfast style one rather than a sweet one.  It looked pretty good, definitely something I’d have wanted to eat had I not been so full.

Thanks again for such a great night!  Now I don’t have to head down to Seattle to try out this crab pot novelty.
