Estrella’s Montreal Deli

It was a bright sunny day, and we were on our way to some farmers markets to buy some goodies.  Since we were already out in Langley, we decided to make a stop at Estrella’s for lunch beforehand.  Marv had heard all the raves about their smoked meat sandwiches and was itching to give it a try.

We were greeted warmly by the cashier when we walked through the door, she was quite helpful in suggesting what to order as this was our first time here.  After taking a moment to look at the menu on the wall, we were ready to order.

So I eyed a can of Cherry Coke and knew I had to get that one!  I like this more than regular coke, I think it’s time I head out to purchase a box of it! 🙂  To share, we decided on their Family size fries. Eating fries with Marv is quite a battle, since we both love french fries, it makes it harder for me to have any! lol, I enjoy eating mine piece by piece, whereas he will eat a bunch at a time… I think next time we’re going to have to split it evenly!! :p  /rant.   The fries were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.  There was no flavour to it, so we added our own salt/ketchup/pepper.

As I don’t care too much for smoked meat, I decided to get a Grilled Cheese. It was served hot and still gooey!  The bread was nicely toasted, I found it to be really filling on its own.

Marv decided to go with their X-Large smoked meat sandwich with a side of sauerkraut. It was indeed a big stack of meat.  He found it to be fresh and quite soft to eat, but it was a bit on the boring side.  I think he was expecting this sandwich to have a strong smokey flavour to it, but this sandwich just did not have it.  The sandwich ended up being smaller than what was expected, we placed a salt shaker for you to judge its size.  We didn’t think this was worth the $20+.  As we sat there and ate, other customers sandwiches seemed to be much larger than ours even though they did not order the same one.  Odd I thought.

Anyways, overall it’s a nice place to stop in for a bite to eat if you’re in the area, but it’s definitely not a place that we would specifically head down for again.
