We were running a bit late due to traffic. Hence we forgot the outside picture. lol But seriously, sorry for being late FFB! I’ve never eaten here before but both Colleen and I have walked by this place far too many times already. This time around our reasoning was simple, we got invited to have lunch with FFB and we couldn’t refuse. And after we parked we ran in and found them as quickly as we could.
The inside is a bit dated, your typical chinese set up here. Menu under the glass table. lol We all started ordering a bunch of random things………….here above are hk coffee and ice coffee with cream.
Since I’m lactose intolerant I had my ice coffee without cream. More bitter that’s all. Here up top is a chinese spaghetti style stir fried dish. Tons of black pepper with simple ingredients, like those found in a frozen freezer bag of mix veggies. lol corn/carrot/green beans………….we found the taste to be quite good actually. I enjoyed it very much.
And because it’s Colleen’s favorite, we have here salted fish and chicken fried rice. Not over powering yet still carries the flavor well enough. Next to it is a small order of their ham and egg sandwich. Its just like what you’d expect from a ham and egg sandwich.
BB ordered a version of mix grill. It came with a small portion of beef/pork chop/hotdog/bacon/fries/veg/gravy……….Do yourself a favor and op out in pouring the gravy on the sizzling plate as it will just do nothing but splatter all over your shirt. Unless you got a bib. But still, unless you eat fast, the bottom of it just gets all soggy.
A side of spaghetti also came with the mix grill order and so is this pork chop on the right.
Colleen ordered her signature baked spaghetti….yes, doubled up on spaghetti didn’t we?….we barely finished this dish and there was so much food that we didn’t even touch my order of baked pork chop on rice. This dish was typical but it needed more sauce underneath the baked layer up top.
I did however eat it for lunch the next day at work and it was only OK in my opinion. The rice itself wasn’t fried enough and the sauce wasn’t as rich as it could be. Pork chop was ok, not dry at all even though it was already the next day.
Overall our lunch was average and it compares to pretty much all other HK style cafes out there. Portions are pretty generous and the service was pretty decent. Will probably not go back because parking and traffic going to china town is a bit annoying…actually I’m just not big on cafes.
