Eight 1/2 Lounge

This place was easy enough to find, it’s basically next to the ballet place on Main St.  So go give it a try, I mean it, I was really impressed with both the service and the quality of food that we received. We got there early as usual, just after Colleen got off work and we were both pretty hungry already. LOL   This place might have been here for awhile already and I would not have even known had it not been for Colleen.

The place was kinda empty but then again we were early. We started looking through the menu and stuff and as for our usual Tuesday dinners, we have to have liquor. LOL But seriously, we both have to stop drinking on an empty stomache.  A nice bottle of well chilled chardonnay just to hit the spot.

The decor inside is very hip and cool to the eyes, however the spacing is very very tight.  It’s almost like you don’t have enough space to even set the plates down LOL We literally took over the table next to us to put our drinks and extra plates just so we can eat comfortably hahaha.

If Colleen had a choice of anything vs mac and cheese, it’s pretty much a victory for the mac and cheese hahahahaaa. This version is rather unique.  The cheese combination is very rich yet not over powering in any way shape or form. It includes mascarpone, brie, bocconcini and parmesan.  To be honest all I could really make out was the parmesan. The portion size is average, I do think for $7 worth of cheese, it’s not such a bad deal from the menu. Taste wise, it’s one of the best mac and cheese I have ever eaten. So there. That speaks volumes and I don’t even like cheese.

I had to order the smoked salmon pizza of course, it’s one of my favorite things to eat. Simple idea, but have the flavor of the ingredients speak for themselves. As I would serve at home myself, a light cheese to go on top of the pizza, anchored with the trio of its signature pairing red onions, capers and dill…..and the taste you ask……it was delicious! Fresh from the oven, nice thin crust pizza and it was just right for me.

Colleen went with their bbq chicken pizza, tons of chicken on the pizza, generous and flavorful. I do think it would go better with a beer due the the strong bbq sauce that is drizzled(in abundance) on top.  I had a slice of this to try and I did enjoy it as well, but not as much as my order. LOL

Overall our dining experience was fun and delicious, we both had a blast chatting and our waitress was comfortably friendly.  She was quick and efficient and was quite helpful with recommendations.  We’ll definitely be back again!
