It’s Wills birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! We decided to head to Ebisu on Broadway for dinner as he enjoys dining here. I also like coming here especially during the evening as the view overlooks downtown and I’m a sucker for city lights!
Ebisu on Broadway
601 W Broadway, Vancouver BC
Tel#: (604) 876-3388
The place was fairly empty once we arrived, but it quickly filled up during our meal. The menu is quite large, so it took awhile for us to figure out what we wanted to eat.
As with the other Ebisu locations, we were offered a wipe before our meal. I like this idea, it’s simple and effective.
First things first, drinks! Will went with a Martini and I chose a Chi Chi. I wasn’t in the mood to really drink tonight, so a fruity drink helped hit the spot.
Will and Marv shared a dozen Raw Oysters. They both agreed that it was pretty fresh, however some of them weren’t cleaned very well. In some cases, slimey extras were still attached making it look unappetizing.
And I of course wanted a boat! Yes, I have an obsession with boats. I decided to get the Vancouver Boat. This had prawn/vegetable tempura, salmon/tuna sashimi, chicken teriyaki and a piece each of a california roll and a dynamite roll. I found this to be quite small for the price. The only enjoyable part of this boat was the sashimi. The rest was just average/less than satisfying.
Will decided to go with their Sashimi & Sushi Boat as it had various pieces of sashimi and nigiri. We had also ordered the Cajun Tuna Tacos, but unfortunately this was missed completely. By the end of the meal, we inquired about this missing dish, and was told it was never ordered. Since I was dissatisfied with my boat, I still wanted the tacos, so we waited for this to be made. I’d say this dish helped salvage my meal here. The tuna was nicely seared atop a bed of greens and the taco had a nice fresh crunchiness to it. I enjoyed this very much.
Overall, as you can tell by the post above, there was a few misses to our dinner for the evening. We were all still pretty hungry, so we decided to head over to another restaurant to continue our meal rather than adding more dishes here.
