I’ve must have passed this place over a million times by now and I have never once gone in, but this time it was different, Colleen is a regular here. How did I not know? I don’t have a clue, but anyways, after picking colleen up from work we decided upon pho and well yes, this place was on the way home. lol

Pho Hong
5975 Kingsway, Burnaby BC
Tel#: (604) 454-9727

Entering this place was rather weird, there was a guy sitting by the cashier and well, he wasn’t very friendly towards the customers, when another family came in and asked for a table, his reply was,  ” I’m not a waiter ” so I don’t get it….who is this guy??

Anyways, we were seated by another friendlier guy and there was only 3 other tables occupied by the time we were there, lets say 520ish….Once we looked over the menu and stuff we decided upon our orders.

So, I ordered a number 1 beef combination special. I know from the picture it doesn’t look like a big bowl or nothing but it was pretty big. There was ample amount of noodles at the bottom and the meat portion on it was fairly generous as well. Taste wise regarding the soup, it was delicious.

Colleen went with their number 2 lean beef noodle. Also a generous portion with lots of meat. However, one complaint from colleen is that her soup wasn’t hot enough, merely warm.

As for a side dish to Colleen’s pho, can you guess what she ordered??  SPRING ROLL!  That’s right. If you order a large pho noodle, an extra order of spring roll is offered as a combo. It was tasty and contained ample filling.  Too bad it wasn’t the regular rice wrapper though.

And, I ordered an extra rice dish………pork chop on rice……..the pork on this dish was again quite generous (I’m sensing a pattern here) it wasn’t all bone or even a thin piece of pork. It had flavour and the rice at the bottom was just enough in terms of its meat to rice ratio.

Overall our dinner was quiet and simple. The flavours were bang on and our orders came out pretty quick from the kitchen. And yes, I did find out about the guy eventually, he’s the cashier. Yeah, just a cashier who can’t seat customers.
