Home BBQ

After a long drive over to Lepp market to pick up some aged beef, we got home and I quickly whipped up a dry herb marinade with a touch of olive oil just to keep the meat from drying up on the grill.

Now just by looking at this you can easily tell that there is a bit of thyme and such and such…………and I’m just letting you all know that this was delicious!

And I gave it a good 15 minutes or so, but I had a hard time getting enough heat from the grill because I was sharing it with a a couple of fishes on the side.

As soon as you can get a nice char to it, that’s good enough for me.  Medium rare and still bleeding.

The reason we were rushing home was because my mom already had other stuff prepared and ready to go for the bbq that night.  Mom got this gigantic cuttle fish which she stuffed with garlic, ginger and green onions plus some salt and pepper. It was cooked to a nice tender touch and you can really appreciate the fresh taste of it.

Next to it is a gigantic plate of palabok, which is a filipino noodle dish. We had a few salmon pieces in the freezer earlier in the week and it was used here after being cooked in the oven as a topping for the noodle along with some prawns and some other stuff.

My sister decided to tackle the mussels in white wine sauce for our other dish and it too was delicious. Fresh mussels and a crazy wine sauce recipe she got from watching one of her cooking shows. I only wanted this dish to be served on a plate that would keep its heat longer or lasting, cause by the time I got to this later on in the meal, it got rather cold quickly.

Finally the first thing on the grill and the last thing to come off it was this foil wrapped tilapia or bangus? I can’t tell. But it was stuffed with tomatoes, onions, garlic, ginger and a few other stuff I don’t really know. This fish was still kicking when it got brought home so freshness is a definite yes. The meat of it was white and flaky, cooked just right and the foil is basically to keep the stuffing from spilling all over the place and also from the skin of the fish to not stick on the grill and peel off everywhere.

Overall, YES there was too much food for just five people but we like left overs and its a typical sunday meal at my house.
