Ebisu visit #2

December 28, 2011 6:00 am / 1 Comment / 604munchies

I know what you’re thinking, another visit to ebisu? Yeaps!  Colleen really likes eating here for some reason.  But this will be our last visit for the year because well I don’t want to keep revisiting.  This place is really busy.  The gigantic table next to us seemed to be forever increasing in the number of people they can cram into it.  It was for obvious reasons a birthday celebration but man, there must have been like 25-30 people crammed onto a table for 10!

So we are dining with our friends Will and Melissa tonight as is it the last day before Melissa heads over to china for a month long vacation.  Both Colleen and I knew what we wanted to get and it’s no surprise….an extra large asahi please!  🙂  Ice cold beer is the best and  man was it refreshing!  And with that I ordered a tonkatsu rice bowl because I was already starving at this point and didn’t want to drink on an empty stomach. The pork was good but the sauce on the rice was delicious.  Both Colleen and I shared this dish and agreed that it is nowhere near as good as kingyo’s tonkatsu, of course.

Then we decided to order up the rest of our meal after looking thoroughly through the menu.   Will got himself a taco rice bowl and it was mixed at our table by the server.  I didn’t get to taste it but as Will said, it tastes like you’re eating a taco.  LOL

Melissa’s order came last to our table.  And I mean last as in ‘can you please check on our order'(2 times) last.  And it wasn’t difficult to make, it was a regular ramen noodle.  As for the taste, its your basic ramen noodle just like the last time.

And here we have our order for just the 2 of us, yes, only colleen and I ate these next few items.  We were that hungry!  This is what happens when we skip lunch for the day.

We shared this unachee, which is a unagi/ cream cheese filling sushi roll that is then deep fried.  Does it sound gross?  Colleen really enjoyed this roll. Unagi + cream cheese + deep fried = all things Colleen would eat 🙂

Here we have the cajun tuna tacos.  Generous portions of tuna on top of a home made taco shell.  I thought this was a good share plate and I enjoyed eating this very much.

How can you go without chicken karaage.  I really like the way they fry it up here.  Tender juicy pieces of what seems to me like a whole lotta chicken.  The dipping sauce could use some work but other than that this item is a good filler dish.  Also on our side was an order of yaki udon with chicken.  Colleen didn’t like the sauce they used for this particular version but I didn’t mind it.  It was edible and I pretty much ate the whole thing myself.

We also got this beef tongue grill up yourself dish.  This has way more pieces than kingyo but in terms of the flavors, they are both pretty much the same.  One side note though, do cook all the pieces at once as the flame on the bottom of the mini grill plate goes out rather quick.  I learned that the hard way despite being told to cook it all first.

Overall our dining experience  was entertaining and filling.  We had a lot of food and I would really recommend the chicken karaage here.  =]

HAPPY NEW YEAR to Col and Marv!! I agree, the chicken was yummy. The ramen was nothing special but i really like the fact that it comes with the egg…and not just half an egg, its 2 halves! haha!
