JB Malaysian

After reading about another malaysian restaurant I had to give this place a try for myself.  So after work we both made our way over to JB Malaysian on Kingsway and had to double back just to find the free parking round back.

We couldn’t really decide what to order but there was an old guy inside already and we heard him order the hainan chicken and we decided to copy him and give this dish a try ourselves.  I found the portion to be normal and as for the taste, its very average too, nothing made me go “wow” or “omg”  but the chicken was very tender and healthy.

And I had to try their beef brisket curry, and it wasn’t disappointing, just felt very day old, or even a few days old.  The dish came with rice and a decent portion of beef as well.  Again nothing spectacular about it and look how sloppy the chef is when serving, aiyeeeeee.

We also added an order of roti and mee goreng.  The roti was a complete fail, lots of oil and not flaky at all.  The mee goreng was so-so, edible and well, I’ve had better.  They used a soy based sauce to it and it didn’t really do anything for me.

Overall our dinner was only soso and I will probably never come back here to eat again.  I honestly didn’t feel like it was worth my time or money to dine here and as you can tell from the pix, the chef himself kinda doesn’t really care about presentation or taste in my opinion.  But when you do decide to give this place a try, pay attention to the way the staff and the chef interact and well, you can tell just by that.

Too bad you guys didn’t like this. J and I have been there a few times and liked it. Maybe you were there on an off day?

      Hey Evo! 🙂

Yeah, that’s possible, I’ll try to convince Marv to come back for a visit some time soon and see if there’s a difference. Any dishes you’d recommend? 🙂
