Hamilton Street Grill

Burnt!  That pretty much sums up our dining experience here and it was a little annoying.  We made our way down here after work with the notion of relaxing while eating a nice meal.  Finding parking wasn’t a problem since we were here before the dinner rush, so we fed the meter and off we went!

Let me start by saying our experience here was a let down and we will never eat here again but don’t let that stop you from giving it a try.

Once we entered, we noticed immediately that it was pretty empty.  C’mon!  It’s ME!  You know I’m gonna be there early enough, but guess what?  We waited for about 5 mins before anyone came over to direct us to a table.  I called it off the bat, “a table next to the washroom” and sure enough!  We received a table next to the washroom!  I clearly see tables over to the right of me empty next to the window in an area where there’s a couple of other customers.  I’m not gonna complain because we didn’t have a reservation and perhaps those tables were reserved.  PERHAPS?!

So here we go.  Colleen went with a burger and I their signature flank steak.

For some reason it took a really long time for our food to arrive but we got bread beforehand to kill time.  Nothing special about this butter.  In fact it was rather bland.

The burger was a complete fail.  Burnt! Char-coaled and flamed to extinction.  It tasted like the grilling platform hasn’t been cleaned in ages.  I’m pretty sure after the second bite colleen stopped eating it completely and went for the fries.  Which was in abundance.  I mean, if they wanna charge $16 for a burnt burger, filling the plate with some fries was the next best option.  However it just amplifies just how tiny the burger was.

Mine was no different.  My steak also had the burnt char taste to it. Must be the days special?  Luckily there was only a 6oz portion of it.  Which, to all who know me by now knows this is like nothing for me.  I’m still waiting to tackle the 72oz challenge LOL  I found it very chicago  style in which it was chared outside and medium rare in the middle.  But the burnt taste was there and there was nothing you could do about it.  Don’t think I didn’t finish mine like Colleen’s….I ate mine quickly.  I’m a sucker for steak and fries.  And again there was a generous portion of fried potato to it.

I wish they would have cleaned the grill before dinner service and perhaps taste the food before it came outta the kitchen.  Overall our dining experience left us both hungry and disappointed and yes, we went for dinner part 2.  KINGYO baby!
