Cattle Cafe….cattle cafe.. have you been to Cattle Cafe yet?? That’s what people kept asking me.. including Marv!! So finally 1 Sunday morning, Marv took me there. I bet he regrets it now..more on this later 🙂 We arrived before it opened and I’m glad we did! Even though it was still closed, there were more customers coming along to see if it was open yet! All these people were making me anxious to see what was so great about this place!

Shortly after 11, we were finally let in. I guess that’s why they call it Cattle…. they hoard you in like cattle.. haha just kidding. We ended up being seated first, and the place was full by 11:20! Yes, I will say it again, thanks Marv for making me come here early! 🙂
For our drinks, I decided to go with the Iced Milk Tea(above left), and Marv went with the Papaya Smoothie(above right). Y’know how sometimes in hk style cafes you receive a drink that’s warm with a lot of ice in it in hopes it’d be cold?? Well, this drink was ice cold! If you can make this drink well, I’m sold! Marvs drink was pretty flavourful and not too sweet. It was also well done.
Our food was first to arrive since we had ordered first. Don’t you get annoyed with people eyeing your food and watching you as you’re about to dig in?? Marv went with the Teriyaki Rice Bowl. He was a bit disappointed with it. Despite how the picture looks, there wasn’t enough sauce in this dish. He ended up having to ask for more sauce, in which a tiny saucer of sauce was brought to the table. Again, he was not impressed. Above right is my order – their Noodle+Soup combination. I went with their Laksa soup with all sliced beef and macaroni. Why macaroni you ask? Well…actually it’s because I didn’t want any noodles that would slip/cause me to splatter the soup onto my clothes. Yes, I admit it, I’m a clumsy/messy eater when it comes to noodle/soup! First sip of the soup brought a spicy kick to it. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to eat this dish afterall, but it was so flavourful and tasty that I just couldn’t stop! It took me awhile, but I managed to finish the entire thing! 🙂
What?? They have Bubble Waffles here too?!?! Okay, seriously… I am definitely sold on Cattle Cafe now!! This was still pretty hot once it arrived to the table. Once it cooled, it was nicely crisp on the outside. I enjoyed munching on this to help bring the spicyness down!
Overall, I enjoyed the food here. Marv agreed that the noodle/soup combinations were the best deal. Service at this location was a bit sparse. No one came by to check up on us, nor did they want to give us the bill. We waited for a while, tried to flag any servers down, but they would advert their eyes and always stare to the ground. Finally a table was being seated beside ours so we were able to catch their attention. I’m glad there are other locations that I could go to.

The papaya smoothie looks good, I’ve never tried the BBT section in cattle. aww, I’ve always wanted to eat the terriyaki rice bowl, maybe I wont now 😛
But I think Cattle has one of the better bubble waffles 😀
Since it’s only $2 extra for their bbt drinks, we seem to always opt for that instead of adding $1 for their regular cold drinks 😀
Marv keeps telling me the rice dishes in the richmond location are better.. so I’m hoping to give that location a try next time!
Agreed, I’m loving the bubble waffles here! I’m glad there’s a place closerby for me to get them now 🙂
That’s true. But I was just hesitant because some HongKong Cafe makes BBT kind of.. funny tasting ahaha. But I guess I’ll give it a go.
Oh really? I’ve only gone to the Richmond one and it’s pretty good ahaha.
I LOVE CATTLE CAFE!
I always order their Szechwan beef mini hotpot with bowl of rice! I should try something else but I can’t stop myself.
