Today I gave my friend full reign on deciding where to eat tonight. After some research, he decided upon Carmelo’s in West Vancouver. I had never been here before so I was up for trying some place new.(Since this first visit, I also took Marv here and we thought service/food quality was pretty solid too)

So, I hadn’t done my research on the restaurant beforehand, so I arrived considerably under-dressed. Needless to say, I wanted to pass on the restaurant due to my shoddy appearance, but decided I might as well go in since we’re here already. I figured there’d be a table in the back that I could hide at, but alas we were led to a table right by the window.
It’s a nice cozy restaurant with pillows along the booth ends of the table. I’ve always wondered how sanitary these things were, considering how many people must sit/touch them. I decided to order a bottle of sparkling water to go with my meal.
We were given some complimentary bread to munch on while we waited for our meal to arrive. I enjoyed how there were different types of bread instead of just 1 big loaf to chew on. On the right is…(well I forgot the name of it), but it had artichokes and olives in it. Personally, I’m not big on olives and artichokes so I didn’t enjoy this dish much.
Next up is the Tuscan Pizza. I was a bit surprised when I saw the size of this pizza. It had roasted chicken, mushrooms, pesto, olives, herbs & mozzarella. This was my favourite dish of the evening even though it had olives. The crust had a nice crisp to it while the roasted chicken was still juicy. I would definitely order this again.
Overall, my dining experience here was pretty good. It exceeded my expectations and am glad I ended up coming here for dinner. I will definitely be back again to visit when I’m in the area again.
