How long has it been since we last visited Earls? Must’ve been quite some time since neither of us could remember. On this evening, we met up with Edwin for dinner after work. The place was pretty empty when we arrived and there was no host/ess to greet us so we stood at the stand. Another group came in behind us and ended up being greeted and led to a table before us. We were not impressed.
Oh well, we weren’t going to let that spoil our mood. Since we were hungry, Marv ordered up 2 plates of wings, Salt & Pepper and Thai. They were nicely fried but underseasoned and bland. We would’ve preferred more flavour to each plate.
Above left is the Warm Spinach and Feta Dip. There is quite a generous amount of dip for this dish, does it seem like whenever you order these sorts of dishes, there aren’t enough bread/crackers to dip it with?? Fortunately at Earls, the bread is refillable at no extra charge. As we finished off the bread and were left with 3/4 of the dip left, our server didn’t even mention to us that the bread was refillable even though we were approached a few more times. In fact, it was Edwin who gave us that tip. Another slip? To the right is the Quesadilla with fries. This ended up being quite small and flat. The fries were crisp and not oily.
And I decided to try their Grilled Chicken and Baked Brie Sandwich. This sandwich also had roasted apples, spinach, garlic mayo and sweet fig jam(which I opted to have it on the side in case I didn’t like it.) For some reason I enjoy my sandwiches to be more salty than sweet. I found it to be a bit dry(maybe because I omitted the jam), but the sandwich was pretty tasty! The ciabatta was warm and soft. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Marv decided to try their Fish Tacos. This might have been a mistake because now these tacos had to live up to theTacofino tacos we had just tried. Marv didn’t like how the fish was cut into tiny pieces and would’ve rather it be 1 long piece. Other than that, he didn’t think this dish was worth the price tag of $14.50.
Overall, the food and service here is a bit of a hit and miss. Some things they excelled on, and some not so much. Hoping it was just a ‘one off’ sort of thing, but I doubt we would revisit this location again.

Too bad about the customer service. 🙁
I’ve also enjoyed their Grilled Chicken and Baked Brie Sandwich with that contrast between salty and sweet. Out of their entire menu, I think they do burgers and sandwiches best including the skinny fries. Bronx Burger, Cajun Chicken Cheddar Sandwich and Bacon Cheddar Burger are delicious!
