Congee Noodle King

We decided to take a break from our boxing day shopping(at Metro) and headed over to the Congee Noodle King for some congee before heading downtown for another crowd filled shopping experience.  Surprisingly, the crowd at Metro was pretty sparse(we were there around 9am!  But by 10:30, it was pretty packed!)

Decor wise, it’s like your typical noodle house.  We found the restaurant to be cleaner than the normal noodle house.

It was about 11am when we arrived, and the restaurant was pretty packed!   Luckily a couple of tables left as we were walking in so we were seated right away, but a lineup quickly appeared at the door as we had our table wiped down.

Since we had woken up super early to go shopping, I needed my coffee fix!   So I went with the Hong Kong Style Coffee.

The coffee tasted like any other hk style coffee, actually this is my favourite kind so I have no complaints..(even over hazelnut!)

Marv decided to order the Salty Chinese Doughnut(bottom left).  I on the other hand went with the Sweet Chinese Doughnut(bottom right.)

The salty doughnut was hard and not very fresh.  The sweet doughnut was very tasty and soft.

As for congee, Marv decided to go with the Assorted Meat Congee.

Marv thought the congee was very rich and tasty.
I decided to get the Sliced Beef Congee.

My sliced beef congee was delicious!  Very tasty, and they definitely did not skimp out on the meat.

Foodwise, I’d say this place is pretty consistent.  Congee never fails to satisfy here.  The only complaint we had for this meal was that it took a really long time for our congee to arrive.  We received our doughnuts first, and it was cold by the time our congee arrived.  The previous visit to Congee Noodle King, we also had to wait a long time for our congee.  All the other tables seemed to be receiving their food before us.  Is this normal??
