Marv again went to eat without me 🙁 Here’s his post on lunch with his family 🙂
My whole family played hooky from work and we all met up for lunch…. Some place on the way home and close by we decided to try out Chiffon.
Chiffon Chinese Cuisine
4751 Garden City Road, Richmond, BC
(604) 821-0880
Ive eaten in this spot before and didnt even realize that it has already changed restaurants since the last time.
The decor has a very modern feel to it and the color scheme was very nice and friendly. Lucky for us the place was empty and we got seated right away. Upon reaching the table I instantly noticed the unique display they had on the table……..just flip em over and they can be used as cups.
Looking at the menu for like a few minutes and checking out their various lunch combos we were ready to order.
The first dish to arrive was the 3cup chicken. A Taiwanese staple. Now for some reason the chicken pieces were very hard and the sauce was super salty.
The next dish to arrive was the Beef w vegetables. It was very basic and boring. Not even tasty.
Shredded pork w peking sauce came right after. Another overly salty dish. Whats goin on….the pork was tender but the sauce was again too salty for our taste buds.
Rice was needed to help endure the salty-nes……..
rice was good. Nice and soft.
Hot and sour soup. The portion was massive. However the soup itself wasnt very tasty. It was rather watery and weak in flavor.
I ordered their House special beef noodle soup. It tasted really weird. Had a weird smoky smell to it. I dont know if thats their special technique or what not, but I did not enjoy it at all.
So, I got a drink w my combo and I wanted to try out their Red Tea. It was alright. This is when it hit me, this place is only good at night for a hang out place for kids. BBT and playing big2…………not as a real restaurant. Should have tried out the taiwanese chicken nuggets here instead lol
Finished off our meal w what looks like pigs blood………Choco pudding
Thank goodness it was on the house, they gave us 4 servings and nobody wanted it, so I ate em all. I thought it was alright. lol
All in all I wished my dad picked out a different place to eat. But whatever, I would so totally ctrl + alt + del this place from my repetoire.

Hi Marv: When was the last time you visited Chiffon (when it was not Chiffon). We were there almost 1.5 years ago. It was still Chiffon then but it looked a lot different from the pictures of the place you had on this post. Anyway, like you, we did not think much of the food in Chiffon. We had never been back there since our first and last visit. Ben
Marv: Hi Ben,
I believe the last time I was here was a good 2 to 3yrs ago.
Maybe I’m mistaken about the name change but I’m pretty sure it was a different one before.
The menu and the decor has certainly changed a lot.
Minus the choco pudding, it all LOOKS reasonably OK… sounds disgusting though! How does a place like that stay open?!
