After reading some reviews on Burgers Etc, I had a really big craving for a burger! Don’t you just hate it when that happens? Reading all these food blogs make you want to eat everything in the pictures, then you can’t decide cause 1 post might be a burger, but the next could be sushi! 🙂 Anyways, we decided to head over to Burgers Etc to try out their ‘best burger’
Burgers Etc. BBQ House
4091 Hastings St, Burnaby BC
Tel#: (604) 299-8959
We arrived before the restaurant opened as usual, but the owner saw us standing around outside and came to let us in early and warm up : ) I do feel a bad that we interrupted his meal before opening up, but he was nice, warm and friendly to us as we waited for the rest of our group to arrive 🙂
The place is fairly small, and it most certainly filled up quick! They do their cooking on the other side of the counter in the dining room, so make sure you wear clothes that you don’t mind smelling like burgers after in!
Everyone at the table recommended that I try out a milkshake cause it’s supposed to be really good! So I went for the Chocolate Milkshake. This was very thick, and like white spot, it came with a metal container for a 2nd helping of this thick concoction. Mmm.. it sure was chocolate-y!
The first to arrive was my brothers order, the Chicken Burger.
It came with two grilled chicken fillets, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, red onion and a dill pickle. For an additional $1.50, you can have your choice of a soup/salad or fries, otherwise you only have the option of coleslaw, potatoe salad, baked beans or corn niblets. I was able to steal a bite of this and the chicken was very juicy! I almost wished I had ordered this one(but then again, my burger had not arrived yet)
Marv and Steph decided to get the Beef Dip. Before any of us touched our meal, Steph had already finished HALF of the sandwich! Her reasoning was because the meat was falling out so she had to eat it quickly, but after also stealing a bite of this one, it really was that good! the dip was so flavourful and even though there’s no side shot of the sandwich, they really piled in the meat!
We also decided to get an order of their House Fries. This was smothered in chili, baked beans and cheddar cheese. Alright, this was delicious! I like how the fries are crispy and thick. The chili and cheese made the fries taste so good. I don’t think I can eat fries the same way after this experience…can..not…go..back..!
Finally, my order of the Best Burger. This was a 6 oz Ground Chuck Steak served medium well w/ secret spices, mayo, ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes, red onion with an added Cheddar Cheese! Was this the BEST BURGER??? It was definitely one of the tastiest! The bun was nice and soft, there was just enough cheese, just enough meat. I’m now drooling as I think back to this burger. I ended up trading Marv my potato salad for his coleslaw though, the coleslaw was so tasty! 🙂
Since my brother and Steph were meeting up with another friend afterwards, they decided to order takeout for him. They ended up choosing the Pulled Pork & Beef Brisket sandwich. This is slowly smoked pulled pork shoudler with thinly sliced smoked beef brisket. From the looks of the sandwich, they did not skimp out at all! The takeout box was pretty big.
As we were enjoying our meal, a lion dance happened outside of the restaurant! The owner had strung up a lettuce head with a red envelope and as the lion dance came to their storefront, it ‘ate’ the lettuce head(shown above) I thought that was pretty entertaining! 🙂 (alright… I’ve never actually watched a lion dance before…and certainly not this close up, so it was quite a treat to see this done right in front of our table!) =)
Overall, everyone really enjoyed their order. The burger was indeed a really great tasting burger. The owner is also the chef behind the counter. Seemed like a very laid back guy, and treated his staff well, definitely made the atmosphere a lot more comfortable (since everything was happening in the front of the restaurant) I’d definitely revisit this place! Actually, it hasn’t even been a week and I want to revisit today! lol 🙂
