Sophie’s Cosmic Cafe

I love breakfast food.  There, I said it.  Marv on the other hand can’t stand it, but he decided to be a sport about it and accompanied me to Sophie’s Cosmic Cafe.  We ended up having to show up quite early since Marv was worried that we would have to wait in line.   Yes, always early :p

I’ve been here years ago and could only remember that we had to wait a long time for a table.  So this time, we went early on a sunday morning hoping to be able to snag a table without waiting in line 🙂  Surprisingly, it was pretty empty when we arrived.  It did quickly fill up as we were eating though.

The decor is just a bunch of random nostalgic items pinned to the wall.  I do like the coke bottle railing though.

The red booths make it have a real diner-ish feel to the place.  What other good diner places are there to go to??  I’d like to visit some more!

Since it was still early, we both needed a coffee.  I also find the place mats to be a nice touch 🙂  Actually, I’m quite impressed, all the children who draw these can draw a lot better than I can!

Marv went with the lumberjack special, which consisted of eggs, pancakes, ham, sausage and bacon.  He had also added on a side of home fries, but that never made it to our table 🙁   Since Marv doesn’t like breakfast food to begin with, he obviously did not enjoy his meal.

Well, I ended up ordering the plain waffle dish.  This was sprinkled with a lot of confectionary sugar.  I found it to be okay, but it was a lot of waffle.  By the time I finished 2 pieces, I was already getting sick of eating it.

Service is very friendly and prompt.  We had our coffee refilled each time without asking and were checked on often enough to not feel bothered.  I think next time I’ll order something with more variety than just plain waffles. 🙂
