Happy Birthday Rose!!! Yes, it was my dear cousins birthday, so we decided to head to Fatty Cow for some hot pot! Marv ‘n I had never been to this location before and had been itching to try it. We decided since it was almost springtime, we’d better make it a priority since it would be much too hot for hot pot in the summer.

We had arrived fairly early for our reservation, there was only 1 other table occupied. As soon as we placed our order and received our soup, the place was packed! We noticed that they place a clear plastic covering for your jacket if you request it. I thought this was pretty neat since I’m sure none of us would want our clothes to be infused with the hot pot smell lol! I guess this doesn’t help with the clothes you are wearing though!
The place is quite nice and clean. We really liked our tabletop and booth. This place is quickly making its way up onto our list of hot pot places to visit!
Our server was a nice, friendly fellow. He was quick to attend to our requests but as the night went on, service started to lack. I believe it’s because of the amount of people that packed this place, he was running around trying to tend to everyone.
To celebrate, Rose ‘n I decided to have a beer. Thanks for being our DD Marv! =) For our soup base, we went with the Hot & Spicy and the Spareribs broth. I for one thought that the spicy would be manageable, but after a few bites from that side, it started burning!! LOL, the spiciness lingered in my mouth and I had to quickly switch over to the spareribs broth hehe. Marv was the only one left tackling the spicy side for the rest of the night.
Above left is the Crispy Fish Skin. This is Marvs favourite, dunks it in the soup for a couple seconds and crunch crunch crunch is all I hear!
Since hot pot is all about your broth and cooking it yourself, there’s not much to comment here, just enjoy the pictures lol 🙂
We ended up having lots of vegetables and tofu, even a 2nd round of each basket!
One thing I’ll remember, not to have Rice Noodles, or at least keep an eye on it in a separate ladle lol. It ended up getting really mushy and disintegrating in the broth! We had to fish it all out to avoid making the broth even more murky lol =)
Yes, we also ordered the Sticky Fried Rice. I love this stuff! It wasn’t as strongly flavoured here, but it was still good. I wanted to have more, but we had so much food to finish that I figured ordering another rice filler dish would be a bad move lol! On the right was their complimentary dessert. Marv enjoyed this so much that he stole mine as well as part of Rose’ share!
Overall, we were happy with the food/service here. It’s definitely a place we’d come back to, but make sure you have a reservation, the place fills up rather quickly!
