Colleen and I found ourselves bored on a Saturday afternoon so we headed down to superstore to buy some extra groceries for the week. Where we happened to stumble upon something new to try. We figured it’d be nice for us to make something at home rather than eat out again lol =)
It says easy cook on it. Can’t be any harder than just putting it in the oven yeah……..?
So we started off by adding a vegetable mix to the bottom for our side. Potatoes and celery are here.
Followed by sliced carrots and cauliflower.
Open the packaged meat and set on top of all the vegetables. This also helps the vegetables absorb flavor from the drippings of the pork. I set the oven for about 350 deg and left it there for an hour or so….
After about an hour or so I lifted the meat and placed a few cubed apples on top of the vegetable mix to add more flavor to the meal. Place the pork back on top of the apples and into the oven it goes again for another hour or so…………..
After another hour, you can clearly see that the pork skin has reached a nice crackling hue and upon puncturing the meat itself, the juices from it ran clear, hence, dinner is ready.
Let it sit for a good 15 mins before slicing it up and there you go. An easy dinner alright. I didn’t find the meat to have a great amount of flavor to it.
I don’t think the marinade they used was strong enough or whether the pork itself had enough time to absorb it. But dollar for pound the pork was worth the money. Next time though I would perhaps make a gravy to go with it or something. Cheers!
