Green Lemongrass

I couldn’t decide what I felt like eating today, so I let Marv take full reigns on the decision making.  As we drove along #3 Rd in Richmond, I kept asking where we’re going(like a broken record), but he refused to tell me.   After being stuck for a while in the flood of cars, we ended up at Green Lemongrass.

Check out our visit to Green Lemongrass on Kingsway here

Green Lemongrass

8180 Westminster Hwy, Richmond BC

Tel#:  (604) 270-6188

Their parking lot is a bit small, and it was pretty packed by the time we got there.  When we walked inside, there was hardly anyone here!  I wonder where all the people are?!  Since it was quiet, we were promptly greeted and led to our table by the window.  Not much of a view since we were looking at westminster hwy lol.

After perusing the menu, we noticed there were quite a few dishes listed that were covered with tape.  I guess they don’t have it anymore… which was a bit disappointing since Marv had wanted to order their duck soup!

The usual suspects arrived to the table.  Above left is the bean sprouts for Marvs pho.  Above right is the house soup and fish sauce to go with my rice dish.

Marv really likes his soup!  When we first ate pho together, I noticed he drank all his soup FIRST!  I thought that was strange…I wasn’t sure if I should offer him some of my soup or not lol! 🙂  For this particular day, he thought the soup base was a bit bland, and had a stronger herb flavour than usual.  Even though this was their ‘large’, there was not a lot of noodles.

Since I had really enjoyed the rice dish I got from their Kingsway location, I decided to get another rice dish here.  To be honest, I was pretty disappointed with it.  The meat cake was bland and fairy dry, the shredded pork was grainy and dry, even the meat was dry.  The vegetable garnish looked dirty and black, it was not appetizing at all.

We decided to also share a Banh Mi Sandwich.  Although they were quite generous with the filling, the bread itself was extremely crispy.  It would crumble and break apart as you bit into it causing a huge mess of crumbs everywhere on the table.

Overall, I enjoyed the kingsway location much more and will probably be a repeat customer there.  The menu here looks a tad smaller, it was also quite difficult to flag any servers down for more tea and the bill.
