It was a really nice Sunday morning and it was perfect walk around do nothing weather. We decided to stop into Las Margaritas for an early lunch. With my recent trip to Puerto Vallarta still lingering, I’ve been having cravings for many things Mexican. =P

I haven’t been back to Las Margaritas in years, due to the fact that our last visit was rather disappointing and the portion sizes have significantly shrunk. Let’s see if things have changed……..
We got there early (as usual) and scored rockstar parking right out front. We weren’t sure how long we would walk around after we ate ( how ridiculous are these parking rates?)
After dealing with finding more loose change, we entered and were promptly greeted/seated.
With the music booming and highly reminiscent of PVR, a drink was in order. We got a Coconut Margarita. It was a very coconut-y drink and it was a good start =)
Did I ever mention before how much I love nachos? Well I do! I even had it for dinner the other night! The warm chips served here are good and the salsa was flavourful without being overly spiced or spicy.
As for our orders, I went with their lunch special for the day, Chicken Spinach Quesadilla with a side of chicken torta soup.
For only $8 I didn’t expect it to be a gigantic portioned dish, rather a quick lunch sorta thing. I tackled the soup first. I liked it, peppery and it had a few chicken pieces in it which was a nice touch, well spiced and I would definitely order this again by itself. As for my main, too much spinach sauce as it smothered the wrap but good thing it did because the chicken inside was super dry and it felt like it was left overs. Kinda bland. But I was still happy with the free nachos…
Colleen had the Beef Chimichanga. Wasn’t sure if the chillies were going to be over spicy so we asked to have it on the side (it wasn’t spicy at all) the dish was served with refried beans, rice and a dollop of guacamole on top. Colleen isn’t a big fan of the guaq…so I gladly took it off her plate and enjoyed it, as far as portion to price goes, it wasn’t worth it. Small portioned and very little filling. Let’s just say that I ate most of this dish because from the start it was already at a point of fail for Colleen.
The restaurant quickly filled up, many of the other tables were getting the fajitas and it looked good from our table. Maybe I’ll give that a try next time. Our server was very nice and helpful.
Overall, I’m missing my all inclusive style of just walking in a buffet line, grabbing as much nachos as I want and drinking Tecate light by the beach. aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I want to go back! =]
