I’ve been craving cake lately, I think it’s just because it was nearing my birthday, oh who am I kidding, I always crave cake! Any desserts really.. 🙂 Marv decided to humour me and came to True Confections for a slice of cake.

I used to frequent this place with my friends years ago, but I haven’t been back until now. I’ve never found the quality to be stellar here, so I was curious to see if there’s been any improvement.
There was only 1 other table occupied when we arrived. It took us a moment to peruse the menu before deciding on our drinks.
Marv decided to go with the Iced Black Tea. This was pretty good, I enjoyed this more than the drink that I went with.
I decided to get the Vanilla Bean Tea. Mighty leaf tea bag in hot water! I have nothing against mighty leaf, actually I even have a box of this on my shelf.
Marv decided to get the Mocha Buttercream. On the menu, it sounded delicious. Mocha spongecake with mocha buttercream, but it was super dry! As Marv put it, ‘once it entered my mouth, it sucked up all my saliva dry. I had to wash it down with my iced tea.’
I went with the Boston Cream Pie. I really enjoy custard in my cake and figured this would be just as tasty. The custard was smooth and creamy, the rest of the cake was a fail. It tasted old and was quite dry. It would crumble as I tried to take a piece of it with my fork.
Overall we were both disappointed in our choices. They were both far too dry and stale for our liking. I’m guessing there isn’t enough traffic to turn over new cakes as often. We’ll definitely pass on this place from now on and head on over to Sweet Obsession or even Sweet Revenge!

Ahaha I went back there again and also tried the mocha butter cream and did not like it either. I couldn’t really taste the mocha .. ): man, I don’t know why I keep going back 😛 but the banana split cheesecake was pretty good. 😀
