Wooo!!! My brothers hockey team made it into the playoffs, so I was there along with Marv and my brothers wife to help cheer him on for his first playoff game of the season! Of course since we were there in the early evening, we decided to get some snacks to munch on while we watched. By the way, Thirsty Penguin is located upstairs in the 8 Rinks complex in Burnaby.
My sister-in-law ordered the Onion Rings. These are obviously the frozen kind, but we enjoyed the extra crunchiness of each ring. They also give you quite a generous amount and was surprisingly not greasy.
And we also got an order of their regular sized Nachos. Again, the portion for this one was quite generous. They piled on a lot of cheese and arrived to the table nicely hot and melted. Our only complaint would be that we would’ve preferred it if they had spread the cheese throughout the pile rather than just mainly on top.
Overall, it definitely satisfied our ‘pub grub’ for the game. And if you’re wondering how the game was, it was pretty exciting!! Quite a few arguments, and I even thought a rumble was going to break out between one of the players and the referee! Yeah, I agree the ref made some pretty dumb calls – #44 ref please get your eyes checked!! In the end, my brothers team came out victorious! Woo!! 3-0!!!
