After seeing a review on Food For Buddha’s blog and eating with my eyes at their pictures, I quickly added Malay Curry House onto a list of place for us to try! Unfortunately we tried coming here on a tuesday, and the place turned out to be closed on tuesdays! So be warned! Then the following day, I urbanspoon’d the place and it stated it was Closed! My hopes had been crushed! Thankfully Buddha Girl was quick to check the place out again and let us know it was in fact still open! Yay! We quickly made our way down there!!

We arrived shortly before 5pm, but they were still closed. Thankfully they open at 5 for dinner, so we only had to wait a little bit. We were warmly greeted and given a choice of tables(I suppose since we were the first ones there). Our server followed us to our table with a couple of Iced Passionfruit teas.
We enjoyed the complimentary drinks. It was not sweet and really refreshing! This made me anxious to start ordering and tasting what they had to offer. Their menu is pretty simple, it didn’t take long for us to decide what to get.
First off, we went with their Indian Pancake with Curry Sauce. While the pancake is not house made, it still did its job. The curry was flavourful and had a nice kick to it. We saved this dip for the satay sticks below.
Marv and his satay sticks… lol! We decied to get 1/2 dozen chicken to try. We found their sauce to be pretty weak and diluted so we decided to use up the rest of the curry sauce above for the skewers. The chicken was bland, this dish was a miss. Next up, we went with a Half Hainan Chicken. This was smaller than what Marv expected, but it was pretty good! It was deboned and came with a bowl of soup. We had to order a bowl of oil rice to go with it.
And I have been on a Laksa binge lately, so I decided to go with their Laksa Noodle Soup. I found this to be a generous portion with ample amounts of bean sprouts, fish cake/balls and shrimp. The broth was creamy and flavourful. I kept wanting to drink more and more as I ate each spoonful.
Overall, we found our meal to be pretty solid here despite the chicken skewers. We’ll definitely be back to try out more items from their menu, and I’m glad there’s finally a place closeby to eat at! 🙂
