Alright, I know it’s a bit late now, but I never did get around to writing up this birthday dinner post with Colleen and her family. Since they prefer to eat chinese food more often than not, she decided that Venice Garden would be a nice choice as it was close by and had been solid for us so far.
First dish of the night, we were told we had to eat chicken during dinner. So we ordered up this one. It was pretty meaty and had good flavour to it. I enjoyed this dish.
For one of our vegetable dishes, we went with the Tong Choy, its just your basic stir fried veg dish. Next to it is their Beef Vermicilli Hot Pot, a lot of beef and a generous amount of noodles to go with it. Not so much a fan of all them peppers there.
Next up came their Minced Pork Spicy Beans dish. The beans needed to be a little more of the crispy side and it wasn’t spicy at all. On the right we went with a Fried Calamari. This dish was bang on, nicely fried tender pieces, not overly cooked or spiced.
The Fried Chili & Garlic Pork Chops came next, kinda dry and a bit boring. Followed by the Sweet & Sour Pork. Same as always, a regular sweet and sour pork.
And we decided to get a crab for our seafood dish. It was cooked in a cream sauce with noodles at the bottom of it. I prefer the deep fried version but the noodles are delicious when accompanied with this type of sauce. For dessert, we opted for Colleens all time favourite, Baked Tapioca. A big enough portion to share that we had enough to take home for the next day. No pre ordering required too!
Overall our dinner was pretty solid. We enjoy eating because portion to price wise it is very decent and the quality of the food itself ain’t so bad.
